For full details and regimental signifier] the figure attempted to engage the soldiers in conversation about tactical deployment of IG forces and the nature of item/items encountered or recovered during said operation, Guardsman 87214 issued a challenged demanding to know the individuals identity and authority to be both in the area of the base and for the information being demanded as per standard procedure (see reference manual 14a 835.M41reprint 'Security of Militarium facilities and bases during urban pacification operations) upon this demand the individual shook his head and produced a weapon from under his coat and began raising it at the Guardman. It was at this point Specialist 76321 who had been positioned to provide sniper overwatch for the gate positions 6, 7 and 8 engaged the individual discharging a single high intensity (hotshot) las-round which struck the individual in the chest (see attached autopsy for full details of injuries sustained), although in most circumstance such a wound would be instantly fatal the individual was staggered but remained standing and continued to raise his weapon, at this point Guardmen 87214 and 97261 fearing for their safety began retreating from the individual to the cover of a nearby fortified position (the sandbag reinforced checkpoint cabin see attached diagram 6 for details of the incident location) both began firing repeated shots on full auto from their Mk 4.Tigrius pattern Lasrifles at the individual striking several them times (again refer to attached autopsy for full details) as before in 99.9% of cases recorded by Imperial Combat Forces such a barrage of fire would prove instantly fatal to a non-augmented human/human like target,, however the individual not only remained standing but returned fire with a pistol type weapon of unknown design doing significant damage to the reinforced checkpoint. Given the nature of the foe faced on REDACTED an insurgency force giving worship to REDACTED a call was issued over the Vox by Guardsmen 87214 as follows, "SPECTRE, WE GOT A FRAKING SPECTRE GATE 7" Spectre being the locally employed slang among IG forces for catogry 3 possessed individuals known to be employed by the insurgents as terror weapons (see attached files appendix 12 through 26 for 'Spectre' attacks on IG forces in similar circumstances in the 6 weeks proceeding the incident) Both Guardsmen reported that the Individual was yelling something but they were unable to discern what was being said over the sound of their lasfire. At this point Specialist 76321 fired again striking the individual in the side of the head, again while not fatal this shot did drop the individual to his knees Specialist 81134 acting as spotter for Specialist 76321 also engaged on select fire with his lasrifle hitting the individual several times centre mass. The combined weight of fire at this point seems to of incapacitated the individual and they dropped the pistol and fell to their hands and knees. However the individual still appeared to be alive and moving and given the abilities of encountered 'Spectres' was still considered a threat by all present. It was at this point x3 Sentinels from the Perimeter Security detachments rapid reaction force arrived in response to the above 'SPECTRE' vox call and engaged, it is believed that the fatal shot was fired by Operator 63421's vehicle mounted Lascannon which vaporized the head and uppee shoulders of the target resulting in instant death. In hindsight it would be clear that the use of an exotic firearm is inconsistent with a 'Spectre' attack (use of bare hands, blades or improved melee weapons being the norm, with only one use of any type of firearm recorded which was Mk.36 Kantreel lasrifle ripped from the hands of a Guardsmen then inserted into REDACTED and then REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED and REDACTED resulting in death) and the individual in this cases unusual survival characteristics being a result of augmentics, spealist armour of an unknown type and a type 16 refractor field rather than REDACTED derived supernatural abilities which Guard Forces in this region had previously been exposed to, though at the time as seen from the attached accounts that was far less clear. The result of this being that this was a blue on blue incident resulting from a misidentification of an individual as a Spectre which REDACTED derived characteristics rather than an enhanced Ordo's Agent with specialist equipment. No identification was found on the body, identity (which has been withheld from this report as per SOP with all Ordo involved incidents) as an Inquisiton Agent was established via DNA analysis post mortem and confirmed by the Office of Inquisitorial Liaison as of DATE REDACTED -Investigation carried out by the Astra Militarium Provost Marshal Divison, Field Investigation unit 18, over seen by Commissar Holt, all recorded details and interviews available in attached Data reels -Attached Note from General Snider, O/C Counter Insurgency Operations REDACTED Scarus Sector.- This is a regrettable incident and again highlights the need for all Inquisitors or accredited Ordo Operatives carrying out their duties in areas of Active Guard operations (though obviously not when currently investigating said units in such areas of operation) to not only make themselves known to Guard command but also to have fully familirised themselves with not only the standard operational and security procedures of the Asta Militarium but those of the local regiments involved and any theatre specific amendment to the SROE, I suggest all Ordo Operatives in Sector are again issued with a copy of 'Procedures for Unconvential/Special/Inquisitorial Forces when carrying out operations alongside Conventional Astra Militarium/Adeptus Astartes Forces Revison 167 Guilliman M42.004' as a starting point for avoiding such incidents in the future, such as an unidentifed Inquisitor raising a weapon in the middle of a post full of strung out trigger happy Guardsmen. Please note all noted troopers involved have been reprimanded (see attach file's 7-9, details of said being overseen and approved by Commissar Holt) and all exotic weapons/items and recovered affects will of been returned to The Central Inquisiton office on Thracian Primus with this data spool, you will note there is not Rosette included, none was recovered from the body and as it is inconceivable the Inquisitor did not have it on his person at the time Field Investigation Unit 18 concluded it was also vapourised by the Lascannon shot, Commissar Holt conducted a full search of all regimental personnel and equipment and facilities ensuring it hadn't been recovered by any Guardsmen or Officer present as you can see from all 16,000 attached search files no rosette or similar item was recovered (although a small mountain of contraband was which is being dealt with by the provost marshal's office) so I can assure you there is absolutely no danger of any Guardsmen posing as a Inquisitor as a result of this incident. It is important to distinguish between the chaos specifically and the warp as a whole. Chaos all stems from, and is an extension of, at least one of the chaos gods. Thus, using chaos to defeat chaos can win a battle, but never a war, as the battle will either be a way to corrupt you, or to strike at a rival god. Using the warp in general, that is a good idea. The Xanithites are fascinating in a lot of ways, I mean who doesn't want to try and understand how the enemy works and how best to destroy them? But this is very dangerous fire to play with, actually it's honestly like trying to study a sentient, self replicating nuclear fuel rod that wants nothing more than to make the biggest boom possible, but failing that is happy to give you a nice dose of radiation sickness. What doomed the Thousand Sons in this regard I believe was their arrogance, when you're dealing with the warp you can't be complacent or arrogant for even a moment, otherwise you will end up strung up by the very powers you thought you had mastered. As they always reminded us in firearms training, you only have to screw up once and inevitably one day you will, never think you're too good for the basic safety rules. Though I can't quite remember, are Horusians a split off group from the Xanithites or are they pretty much their own thing?

ANYTHING related to the Warp is inherently risky. Just being *aware* of things in the Warp can make you vulnerable to them. I think the real question is, by destroying a chaos artifact (of middling or lesser quality, a major one is too dangerous to keep around) do you lessen the total amount of chaos or chaos artifacts in the galaxy? Or does the energy within simply return to the warp to be remade into new artifacts? If the latter, the seizure and destruction of minor artifacts is only a stop-gap goal to be done as required or at your leisure, rather than a focus. I would simply draw a _hard line_ between knowing how chaos works to use its own nature and rules against it (or manipulating chaos entities/ worshippers to work against their own interests), and using chaotic artifacts or rituals or granting any clemency. No doubt that most who would try to wield them would be corrupted; I find it telling that this line is not drawn, as it would encourage inquisitors to be tempted…

Great video as always. I was thinking that chaos corruption sounds a lot like entropy. In science everything tends toward entropy and the only way to combat it is by put energy back into what ever system it is effecting. For example you clean your room and over time it gets messy again but if you put energy or work into cleaning a little every day you can keep your room perpetually clean or cleaner then if you didn’t. So if you do that with Chaos it would be the same . Put in work building up your mental/ spiritual bulwark and you can hold of corruption indefinitely…. Maybe lol.

I e wondered for a while now at the fact of believing strongly in something causing demons harm. Let’s take the Aquila mark for example, to any Chaos Demon, it causes a weakening effect on them. Now say, if enough troops believe in a particular commander could fight and beat anything, would they be able to defeat a greater demon based off the belief other have in them? Granted, the scale is different between a Galaxy spanning symbol and some guy, but would there still be an effect? Then the question that follows, is an Inquisitor protected from Chaos because they and their retinue believe they are immune, or are they immune because of the propaganda making people believe they are immune? In the end it feels very Orky in the way it works…

The idea that "it just works" because everyone believes it works is starting to get on my nerve in the 40k universe. It reminds me of that image macro of the old dude in robes saying "it's magic I ain't gotta explain shit."

The reason why the orcs believe has such strong effects on the real world is that every single orc is a latent psycher. They can't activly use their psychic abilities (not even the weirdboys have actuall full control over them), but their innate psychic talent is strong enough to impose their beliefs to a much greater extent on reality than any other race. Well except of course for active psychers.
@Runenschuppe2 жыл бұрын
I would suggest to look into how Saints work in the 41st Millennium.... So yes. Belief influences the Warp. But usually it would have to take the amount of a mass psychosis for it to be able to affect reality and then only if the veil to the Immaterium is particularly thin. And if the horrors emerging from the Warp and the ensuing unspeakable slaughter and visible corruption do not shake their faith significantly. No inquisitor is immune to Chaos. They can resist the corruption and stave it off, but they are not immune. Any inquisitor believing themselves immune falls to Chaos far quicker, because they get blindsided. No amount of belief can shake the immaterial law that Chaos corrupts. You would have to convince every sentient creature to thoroughly believe that without doubt to change something to radical about the Warp. There's a reason Big E instead wanted to stop belief altogether instead of that approach. And yes, the whole thing feels very Orky, because in a way it is. The Old Ones designed the Orks to use that exact feature of the Warp perfectly. Far stronger than Humans ever could.
@lordfrostwind31512 жыл бұрын
Yes and no, the effects are very limited, just because the Thousand Sons believed their tutilaries and familiars were harmless and helpful warp creatures did absolutely nothing to stop them from being betrayed and possessed by them during the Burning of Prospero and these weren't average people these were Astartes psykers of a power level even the strongest librarians could barely achieve so their ability to influence the warp was far stronger. The Aquila has some measure of power as the Emperor's symbol and whatever relationship allows him to dominate the other Chaos Gods, that's what gets missed a lot, belief has power as the Ultramarine Sergeant demonstrated on Calth, but it's not a concious power you can tap on a whim, you have to appeal to something fundamental and subconscious. Why does a sword work better at killing daemons than an artillery shell? Because how much belief and mythology do humans have of daemons and other monsters being slain by heroes wielding swords.

I find it ironic that the Inquisition's Puritans indirectly contributes to the powers of Chaos. Since Chaos is a reflection of feelings, any and all feelings from Puritans strongly empowers the Chaos gods no matter the situations or means. Such as a Puritan Inquisitor prideful of torturing their "captives" for information of Slaanesh cultists, which in turn the sense of pride empowers Slaanesh. Even envy or jealousy of other Inquisitors encourages rage or hatred, then that empowers Khorne. Unchecked searches for thirsts of knowledge empowers Tzeentch. Feeling ill, or even going to the restroom, empowers Nurgle. So no matter what faith they have, Puritans ironically contribute strong feelings, indirectly empowering Chaos.

The problem I've always had with Warhammer 40k lore, is that the rule of cool has long gotten in the way of actual story telling consistency. "Only the silent sisters can deal with chaos psykers! Oh wait, also the gray knights. Oh wait, also Xanthites! There's the dark gods of chaos! But also, I'm not going to write about them, because I'm a writing attention whore and want to do my own thing. So Abaddon is the most important plot element who affects the whole dang galaxy. Oh wait, tyranids are strongest. Oh wait, oh wait, oh wait..."

13:04 this is where the Inquisitor is wrong, astropaths and navigators use the Warp, not Chaos. The Warp can exist without Chaos, and did before the War in the the Heavens. It was all the fuckery and death between the Old Ones, the Necrons, rhe Eldar, and the Orks that created Chaos
@informationyes2 жыл бұрын
They dont even know about that far in the past though so to them the warp has allways been a literal hell filled with deamons so no inquisiter would make that objection
@omegawilliam95s362 жыл бұрын
@@informationyes That’s kinda the point. Nobody really knows how the Warp was back then, and so the Inquisitor’s mistake is to conclude that everything warp related is all tied to Chaos, and that there’s the most important part of the thought process. I heard the Psychers of the Space Wolves believe their power comes from nature and things like that, and so they have a much better resistance to dark influence, this is what I believe would be the more safer ways of using Chaos against itself, but requires very specific minds to have it work on the scale required to stand a chance. Like how the Imperial Cult has artifacts that have actual power, if every single individual person in the Imperium had the unshakable belief that psychic power is derived from the Emperor and him alone, not just a halfhearted one, it could be enough to at least severely weaken the other Chaos Gods and lessen their influence. But that’s just guesswork on my part.
@Isador112 жыл бұрын
@@omegawilliam95s36 that's what the Eldar did before they startet making slaanesh. If enough mental energy goes into a belief the stronger its form in the warp becomes. You would need a ridiculous amount of people tho to get that result with humans since their quality is much lower then Eldar in terms of belief. Also there has to be absolute belief like with the orks, no doubts allowed

I would not put it past the inqusitors to "hurrump" about chaos, and then turn around and adapt chaos artifacts into their armory.
