I think the reason marineford is classified as a war and God valley an incident is because marineford was calculated to get a raise out of whitebeard, it was a hostile declaration of war that whitebeard just accepted whereas God valley was an unexpected attack

Dragon was Luffy's age pre timeskip of 17 years old when God Valley happened. We are gonna see Dragon at his youngest and his resemblance to Luffy. Because Dragon has to be the guy to save the slaves at God valley which would be why Kuma and Ivankov joined the freedom Fighters. Whitebeard probably went rogue and freed the slaves at God valley and Dragon was the one who took them away from God valley and saved them. Rocks probably wanted the slaves to become his slaves. I could be wrong but this is my guess.

​@@Dkarm26 I think Dragon was in the same class of marine as Borsalino, Kuzan, and Sakazuki and God valley was his version of Kuzan's Ohara where he just lost all faith in the world government and Dragon lost faith in his father. Whitebeard on the other hand, I feel he just saw how pointless this conflict was becoming and I have a slight feeling that this is the island that Whitebeard got his devil fruit. I could be wrong about that, but if Kaido got his fruit at God Valley, then it would make sense that Whitebeard bails out once he got his power and the fight was just pointless and Rocks kept pushing to fight. Because Big Mom said Whitebeard just left suddenly and left them, so he could have gotten his power and then saw how bad it was getting and he freed the slaves and then left. Again, I could be wrong but this is my guess.

Maybe its because I read "Manufacturing Consent" before I read One Piece, but the difference between the Paramount War and the God Valley incident is that the WG are the ones who choose the names, and they were able to cover up the God Valley incident enough that they didn't have to call it a war. It whatever happened there, doesn't serve them very well to have regular people looking into the island where the Celestial Dragons go to make a sport out of murdering slaves. That's probably why the island is gone too

Here's why I really like Tekking's theory of Celestial Dragons putting DF's on the island. It really brings home the point (since we've seen them also feed DFs to slaves for the fun of it) that the Gomu-Gomu has been evading capture. The fruit has a will of it's own, the will of freedom; you can't be a freedom based DF if autocrats force feed you to slaves.

Personally, I’m not sure if we’re gonna see all of the God Valley incident right now. Since it began as the Kuma flashback, I imagine that we’ll only see the part that Kuma saw and the rest might be revealed later (maybe a Gaarp/Rocks focused flashback). Then again I’m not gonna complain if we get all of God Valley now

Chapter 0 is also canon until the moment Shiki escapes Impel Down (because that is a setup for the movie). Uta dont matter if she is canon or not, but Shiki yes because he will appear in the flashback.

I think that Rocks, like Black Beard was always scheming and waiting for the best situation from which he could take advantage of. The God Valley hunt it was the perfect one, all the nobles in one place at the same time, full of expensive stuff, treasure and rare devil fruit. He also had assemble the perfect crew for pull this off, it was the time for take actions.

This makes sense to me. God Valley was THE reason to form the Rocks Pirates - everyone had their own goal and teamed up (e.g. Whiteboard saw an opportunity to steal wealth back from the Celestial Dragons). If the hunt happened every 3 years it gives plenty of time to plan. Garp was probably just the obligatory marine escort to the CD's.

I'm very curious how Oda will handle this, and all the Kuma, Ivankov, possibly putting in the mix a young Dragon and the birth of the freedom fighter later know as The Revolutionary.

Furthering the “Spread Around DevilFruits” idea… perhaps they also do this in order to FIND OUT WHAT DEVILFRUITS ARE WHAT. Like, since they HAVE them, they can draw them, and if they find a slave or a peasant who eats only a bite out of it (which most people will do because they taste like shit), and kill them so quickly after… that could be how the WG has been finding and documenting Devil Fruits. Like, it’s a game to the Celestial Dragons and Gods Knights, but for the Gorosei and Imu, they could use it to document Devil Fruits. Knowledge is power after all, and we all know how the WG loves power. THAT COULD BE HOW ALL ADMIRALS HAVE EXTREMELY POWERFUL DEVIL FRUITS- if you don’t already have one and you want one, they can look through their storage and go “Hm, this Marine or Ally of the Marines is super strong but doesn’t have a Devil Fruit, how about we offer them the position of Admiral in exchange for getting one of the most powerful Devil Fruits we own?” If the Gorosei all have Mythical Zoans/Weird DF, or if they even HAVE Devil Fruits, this could be why! It’s still just a theory… hell, it’s only a hypothetical, but dear lord the idea that Imu is pulling the strings in order to find the most powerful DFs, framing it as a game for their chosen beloved pawns… But the reason it’s an “Incident” is that it’s almost like fate itself decides to not only put 10/10 power-house fruits that were unknown beforehand on the island, but have actually strong and capable pirates invade while they are on the island! Imagine Kaido’s Fruit was like, the Grand Prize or something! Like; “whoever is the best celestial dragon can BECOME A DRAGON” or something- I HOPE Oda has this in mind, because that sounds so cool.

Hypothesis. Theories explain. It's a common misconception and one that is furthered by pop culture. The way pop culture alters how we use language is pretty fascinating and an argument can be made that once the way a word is used changes the definition does as well. Parvision had a theory that Rocks could end up being the Buggy of his generation. Basically, lucking into having the strongest crew in the world...that he could in NO WAY control. I find that the most interesting idea right now. I just imagine Rocks trying to get everyone to stop fighting (and HURTING him) by joking about taking on the Celestial Dragons...and they all end up agreeing with him, much to his shock.

Big Mom says to Kaido to look out for Xebec and should be alerted. Xebec can scary even Big Mom and likely young Kaidou so he should not be interpreted as a Buggy. His team did not get along because they were all monsters and half of them had Conquerors so is not like you can make a regular crew with that.

Given their looks are almost 180 opposite I can see Oda making them siblings. But I can't see Crocodile caring about that. Nor does a sex change make for a source of shame. I think he was someone else and disappeared, changed his name and look, and made a new life for himself. Makes sense as he wouldn't want who he was and the baggage associated with it to find him.

Oda is truly a master storyteller, gradually adding new breadcrumbs of complexity to what went down at God Valley to fuel the suspense for when he finally reveals the full picture. After the last chapter people are convinced that Xebec is a good guy, and you just know Oda is reveling in his puppetry skills

I am starting to think Rock's 'Big Score' was to raid it to steal as many Devil Fruits from God's Valley as possible while everyone is distracted with the games. Specially if that is where he and his crew got their fruits... like maybe Rock figured out that is where the Yami Yami no Mi was and wanted it. Or he was the first person to figure out how to control two Devil Fruits. Plus, the Op Op Fruit sold for like 2 billion berries... sure, that might be an exception but having a bunch of fruits to sell or give away in exchange for services would make him incredibly wealthy and powerful. Fruits are pretty easy to carry around after all. I honestly could see a couple of chests brought out filled with Devil Fruits (maybe a chest per fruit type) and each type given a point basis. I have to agree the Tenryubito had to have a way to control where Devil Fruits appeared after the host was dispatched, otherwise it would be kind of insane just to release so many fruits that could be lost or used against you. There was the one line about how the Niki fruit seemed to have a will of it's own, so maybe that is related on how they are gathered? But maybe Shank's chest was a Fruit chest and Rodger stole it hoping there was a bunch of fruits in it and was, 'Oh... a baby... great. Well, guess I don't need a fruit then, ha ha!' I could totally see this becoming a total free for all for grabbing fruits... maybe not only for pirates but for marines as well. Could also explain why the fruits are so wide spread, because of Rocks... could explain why the World Government was so powerful till the great age of piracy, they controlled or at least had a monopoly of the Devil Fruits to that point.

I think the War thing is because in retrospect you could say that the government has always been fighting the Whitebeard pirates. They can point to other times they clashed as part of a long drawn out series of battles that came to a head in the biggest and bloodiest battle at Marineford. Its the Marines that call it the Paramount War and "spread" that idea of it across their territories. The WBs are too busy dealing with the fallout to do any propaganda of their own so the name sticks.

no, battles between pirate crews are explicitly referred to as wars in one piece. examples: edd war between roger and shiki pirates, payback war between blackbeard pirates and whitebeard pirates led by marco. pretty sure onigashima is referred to as a war too.

I know this might be off topic but did everybody forget about the ancient giant robot so anyone thinking giant robot vs Saturn coming to save Joy Boy ? In topic, i think the Rocks and the Roger pirates went to God Valley to get the resources and met there by chance and Garp might ve heard about Roger being there, so he went there as well, instead of having a threeway battle Roger and Garp decided to teamup to defeat the bigger danger.

In regards to some points made: - Almost every single young character does not have beard, Figarland shoes a lil bit of hair, perhaps indicating indeed he has entered his 30s - I think Tekking just likes to say "Wan Ji" - If altruistic Rocks is real I think is going to be in the same hue as Tesoro. Not saving the slaves but maybe A slave, maybe his woman, maybe she dies there, leaves Shanks and Rocks goes insane - The hachinozu theory is actually intersting, but we saw WB excplicitly going after Kaido telling him Rocks wants him in his crew - I dont think many God Knights were involved, probably it was only Figarland - I think Kaido was barely involved in the incident, because if Figarland or anyone beat him, he wouldnt want to kill himself or always put Gods Knights among the people that he thinks as a challenge - Also, interesingly enough Saturn was there too. So did he leave? Hide? I doubt he transformed into his devil form in front of all that people

Oda would not put romance in the story. Like until this day people believe Im was in love with Lili; that Dragon became a revolutionary because of Luffy mom supposed death; and now that Xebec had also a woman? Tesoro have that exactly story because he is of a movie, and Oda would never put that in his work (this only applies to Sr Pink, a tertiary villain). The human hunting game is actually a thing that makes sense with all of the knights. After all the only things they do is to judge tenryuubito (a rare thing) and to conquer new islands. So Oda could definily show way more Knights, and even the Supreme Commander of the organization 38 years ago. Kaidou only considers pirates in that panel, because i doubt he has not fighted a single admiral or Garp at some point. Or his enemy here could be Roger since Roger is show in that panel.

I believe that Silver Axe was a forerunner to Boa Hanock and is based off the Amazon Queen Penthesilea who carried a giant axe around and in the middle ages Penthesilea became one of the 9 Worthies a legendary collection of people who personify chivalry so because of this she was the traitor to the Rocks Crew and became a Gods Knight due to winning many matches in the tournament this is how Yorke thought she was able to become a World Noble or that like Buckingham Stussy the World Goverment got Sliver Axe's DNA and her clone became a God Knight.

I am rewatching one peice right now and I am on episode 48 where the straw hats arrive on logue town. Smoker is addressing a band of pirates and their leader has a crescent beard and hat that makes a moon. Given what is happing with figarland right now, I find it interesting that oda would add someone with the same haircut as figarland so early in the series.it’s cool that he was introduced in logue town, where roger was born and executed along with the name of the episode with is “the town of the begging and the end, landfall at logue town”. It’s probably all a coincidence but it’s cool.

I've seen somewhere that the dates of the God Valley incident and Roger getting one of the Road Phoneglyphs lines up quite well. It says that God Valley was 38 years ago, and Roger said he acquired a Phoneglyph 13 years from the day of the flashback, and that was approximately 25 years from the current day in the story. 13 + 25 = 38 years ago, things line up quite well. Maybe Rocks went there for a Glyph? It's not a confirmation of any kind, as Luffy himself collected 3 rubbings in a the span of a single year, so a lot can happen in a single year. Edit. Thought more: IF, let's say, the last Phoneglyph is in the ruins of God Valley, it would make sense for only a couple of people to know where it is because the WG erased the traces that the island existed. The best leads should be Shanks that was born there and should have remembered the location from his days with Roger, the people taking care of the remains of Ohara that have kept record of the island and any marine involved in the event that defected later. One of these people should be Saul, the most famous candidate to be the Man Marked by Flames. He was also a marine, and he was quite high up in the hierarchy. You could argue that the island could've been erased like Lulusia but Vegapunk hadn't invented the island obliterator or the way to power it up yet.

What if someone aware of it moved it from there? - Excluding the possibility of the Marines/WG hiding it - Shanks, anyone from Roger's former crew, someone from Ohara and maybe someone knowledgeable from Rocks former crew if they knew about it could have moved it from the west blue like Big Mom did with the Fishman's Phoneglyph. Considering who is in Elbaf right now, I'd say that Shanks may have it and Saul might be a red herring of sorts if he doesn't know that Shanks moved it away. Considering how he is also in Elbaf, maybe they both were involved in this theoretical moving of this theoretical place for the last road Phoneglyph.

This is what ive been saying too, rocks and roger going to god valley over a poneglpyh makes the most sense, rocks xebec name sounds like a literal way for trading ships for rocks or trading rocks which could be both money related or poneglpyh related and roger only started collecting poneglpyhs after he got stumped on lodestar which occured before god valley, we may not see the GVI till blackbeard and garp interaction or the burn scar man explains his backstory as he probaly had some hand in saving or working with shanks

Theory: Kaido's devil fruit was intended to be a prize for whichever Celestial Dragon got the most points. Big Mom stole it during the attack, maybe after killing a lot of Celestial Dragons and declaring herself the winner of their contest to add insult to injury, and then gave it to Kaido when he was penned in by Marines or God's Knights or something to give him the power to escape that situation.
