Elden Ring gifted us instead with a world as a playground, where rather than feeling that you're playing a game, you feel like you're playing a world. Like if you had wondered into a book, each corner hides unique vistas, secret lore, hidden valuables and unexpected enemies.

Never. Every dungeon feels the same. The open world feels like a task to collect items to make bosses more viable. The game would've been a masterpiece if it were 75% the size. Shoof maybe even 66%. So much repetitiveness, they could've cut all that out and the game would be rich and fresh. Nothing worse than fighting a main boss incorporated in the narrative 3 times. Nor spin offs of other "main bosses". Honestly probably going to be my last fromsoftware purchase. They seem to hang on to their weak points while straying away from their bests. The combat hasn't changed in decades. Many of the animations can link back to souls 1 or 2 besides the weapon arts. The game feels like an open world dark souls 3 with extra help (summons and such. Idk i soloed everything because thats the souls way) I love elden ring but to me it could've been game of the century if From didn't use the dark souls combat. Every successful "soulslike" of the past decade did not follow it and was the breath of fresh air we needed. Not saying Lord's of the Fallen was the best combat ever, but the control scheme and accessibility trumps Elden Ring. I've Platinum both games

I feel this way about the entire Souls Borne series. If you have the patience to play the game in a manner that provides you with the stories of even the most basic characters the emotional impact you receive by the time you reach a final encounter with one of those characters is surreal. Hearing "Don't you Dare go Hollow, Friend." for the first time, and then seeing your "friend" as a hollow himself in the next encounter was beautifully poetic. Play them all, it's worth it. Highly recommend all of Myazaki's work.

I think this video features Malenia's life and characteristics well in four and half minutes. Her birth to rot began with a great tragedy because the scarlet rot left nothing but damaged soul at first, probably waiting for subsequent death. However, her twin brother Miquella vowed to cure her disease to ease their suffering, giving Malenia hope to stay strong. As Miquella developed a needle which can put that rot to a hold, she sincerely practiced what she can do and finally became a blade master. Once the elden ring shattered into Great Runes by the Queen Marika's purpose, each great rune scattered to each demigod, triggering a great war of shattering. To rule this world in disarray and become a new elden lord (I'm not sure whether or not she wants to become an elden lord), Malenia, goddess of rot, also fought to end this tragedy in Lands between but her fight against General Radahn, almighty starcourge demigod, eventually turned Calid into almost decomposed area and left anything hopeless. When the war ended, she laid down into a long slumber with pain until her twin brother came back to cure her completely. One day, a dauntless and courageous tarnished warrior showed up before her, and my most favorite elden ring quote across lands between and shadow of Erdtree was finally spoken.
