Angus's SG is really just standard. Iommi's SG is slightly more customized. I started out as a huge Angus fanboy but these days I also love Iommi's work.

I have the Epiphone version of this guitar. The strap button by the neck on this guitar is actually on the top horn on the Epiphone eliminating neck dive. You still get the Iommi pick ups, rosewood fret board, but all the hardware on the Epiphone is black (which I prefer). I got mine for a pretty great value, it's my go to guitar for the tone those pick ups create. Still my favorite guitar I own to this day.

The pickup has both ceramic and alnico 2 in each pickup. Both the ceramic and alnico 2 are full length bar magnets stacked together on the bottom of the pickup (were they normally would be). There is also a second alnico 2 magnet that is about only 1/4 length of a normal bar magnet on the top of the pickup setting in between of the two bobbins

I love it when SGs come with 24 frets. In my opinion, 24 frets should be a standard feature on SGs. Also, SGs are criminally overlooked guitars. Everyone talks about Strats, Les Pauls, Vs, Explorers or Telecasters but not many people are enthusiastic about SGs. I only became a fan when a friend sold me his 2014 SG Special. I've had it for a year now and I play the hell out of it.

I played the Custom Shop Tony Iommi SN 002 at the NAMM show when they were introduced…MUCH thinner neck (nut width) than just about any Gibson I’ve ever played & had a V shape to it. Have regretted not buying it ever since. SN 001 was a lefty marked “SOLD” & I suspect Tony has it.

I mean, gloss black shows every flaw, scratch, ding, etc. It’s only perfect right after it dries in the factory. However if you have a perfect gloss black surface you can then spray over that in a metal color like chrome and it will look like actual metal. It’s a weird finishing quirk that model makers and movie/theater prop departments use.

BTW those pickups can be split into single coil sounds. Hence the reason for 4 conductor wiring. I sold mine because I didn't like the fat bassy sound I was getting from the pickups. Nothing like the trebly tone I knew from Black Sabbaths first two albums. If I had known I could've single coiled these pickups I would've to try it out. I'm curious now to find me a pair to try that out. Noone on KZbin that I know of has single coiled these yet. I believe it would get a more authentic P90 early Sabbath tone.

I think adding the "horror movie" element to hard rock is what set Sabbath apart. As you said, there were heavy songs before Sabbath, but they weren't singing about the devil and trying to scare people. That's metal, and Black Sabbath did it first 🤘

I bought it from zsounds at the time was $800.00. gave me a year to pay interest free and received it within the week. Still have the guitar and play it often...the tribute band? Eh, not so much ☹️☹️

I have a black Viper that had a white pickguard but I had Chandler Music make me a black one so now it's all blacked out like this SG. I'm curious, do you play the War Pigs riff wrong every time so you don't get a copyright strke? LOL I'm just messin' with ya man keep doin' what you're doin.

The ABR-1 is an inferior bridge. They really should only use it on historic reissues. I mean the reason they made the Nashville bridges because the ABR-1 leans and/or collapses over time. Why put a part on a guitar that you know is going to break?

It's really strange, that this guitar is 1:1 with 1st Epiphone Iommi signature. At least to my eye, I'm player, not expert. Headstock says Gibson, the rest is identical. I don't agree that both coils have the same magnet. They don't sound the same when you select upper/lower part of pickup. Please check inductance and resistance - are not the same for both halves of pickup. Resistance - perhaps the same, inductance - not.

As if I didn't already have issue with both the SG body-shaping so top-heavy and with signature models that are only generated to increase the price tag on an already overpriced instrument. Here, we get both. It's almost as though someone inclining toward purchasing this Tony Iommi signature SG should already be equipped with something like a studded dog collar strap. That could potentially be the solution to any electric guitar (or bass) that's top-heavy.
