Synopsis: Twenty thousand years after the fall of humanity, Earth succumbed to legions of ravenous creatures who now freely roam the planet. Far away in the depths of space, the last surviving members of humanity float aimlessly in the same ship they escaped Earth with so many years ago. With the spacecraft running dangerously low on resources, the survivors' leading council must decide on their path forward: should they continue to gamble on finding another Earth-like planet to inhabit, or take to heart an anonymous essay theorizing what may be the only weakness of the "Godzilla," who forced the last remnants of humanity off their home world?

It had such a gigantic set up. Godzilla kicks mankind off Earth and Kaiju thrive undisturbed for thousands of years. when mankind returns, the Earth is a nightmarish landscape only Kaiju can survive in. What did we get? mostly flying beasts, and Godzilla by himself. all other Kaiju are dead, except for Mothera, but she's in an egg... and we only get a glimpse of her after she hatches, then never again. This trilogy was the ultimate cock tease for Godzilla fans. it would set something up, only for nothing to happen. anti-climactic across the board. not just action but also character development. I remember none of the names of the characters. heck, I forgot half of them were aliens. it spent way too much time just sitting and talking plans to defeat Godzilla and our inevitable doom. I'll stick with the 1998 TV show.

The trilogy director even admitted to not liking Godzilla. Hell, even Roland Emmerich had the decency to at least make the 1998 Godzilla movie fun!

The director never said that, he made it clear back then and this year with gamera rebirth that he liked godzilla and gamera. It was the alternative director who wasn't a fan and didn't know how to handle a kaiju film. The director stated he tried to having more action in the trilogy but toho declined that request meanwhile kadokawa let him do whatever he wanted with gamera. Toho is the reason why the trilogy is a mess, not the directors

Tbh godzilla earth trilogy was ok, i think it definitely had good ideas just wasn't execute that well. I mean is i was kinda hoping to see godzilla earth go against mecha godzilla. But overall there was some good and some eh moments

The Monster Planet trilogy had so many awesome concepts but they’re so underutilized it’s painful. I wouldn’t mind the cgi animation too if they actually took full advantage of it (which they didn’t). Really the only thing worse than this was the Singular Point anime for that had less of an actual story, characters with no personality, and the monsters (Godzilla included) had so little to do with anything you could rip them out of that show and nothing would be different. I recommend watching Omni Viewer’s reviews for the full analysis and how Hiroyuki Seshita (who directed the Gamera Rebirth anime afterwards) lambasted Toho for getting in their own way with this trilogy.

Absolutely beautiful to look at. The concept of humans trying to reclaim Earth from Godzilla and all the monsters that rose up since then sounded like an awesome concept for a series. But the whole thing focused on an even more obnoxious version of Eren Yeager. The possibilities of various monster battles and action was minimal. The human characters were not very likeable nor were their stories interesting. Beautiful looking series, awesome concept, poorly executed.

I got bored watching the English dub of these movies. Two years after the final part came out I decided to watch it in Japanese, since I was already completely invested into anime at that time. And I gotta say, I enjoyed it a whole lot more watching it in Japanese instead of English.

The movie trilogy has a cool ass Godzilla with cool super unique superpowers. But the writing is actually terrible, good world building bad execution. There’s a prequel book that describes the kaiju taking over the world with basically every single kaiju in it. Would’ve made a way better movie than the actual series. The first movie is okay, the second and third are really bad

It is overhated af but still the movies mostly felt like speaking, just words, this is a godzilla movie, where Tf is the action, the very few action sequences were a banger, pls make a remake with more action sequences, I would love the idea of there being more than one Godzilla Filius, and I would eat up a sequence in the water where they fight a Godzilla Filius and how would that work, I would also eat Tf out of a extended Godzilla vs Ghidorah fight

We talked about it plenty when this mess was dropped on us in 2017. The best ideas happened in the prequel novel and the trilogy has a pathetic main character. He's just Eva Shinji but mad instead of sad. Like, bro. You think your family was the only one killed on that plane by Veggie Goji? Not to mention he's just a fuck boy to some alien creep that prattles on pseudo religious nonsense. Who they had nothing to do until the third movie when they just made him a Ghidorah cultist out of nowhere. Then there's the fact that the animation is super stiff and robotic on the human characters. Not to mention the textures of the clothes just stretch with the character models. Like too many anime of the 2010's, the cgi is an eyesore and doesn't have any natural sense of movement. Like the '98 disaster, it's exists only to remind us that the movie barrel does indeed have a bottom.

Such a shameful waste to reintroduce the old cast of Kaiju to a newer generation via animation. Instead we get just godzilla sleeping for most of the films and only a shadow of mothra, ghidorah was the only cool thing about the trilogy imo.

I don’t really like these movies. The concept is cool but the execution is underwhelming . You can’t even really call the kaiju “fights” , fights as there’s nothing to really add on other than Godzilla gets shot at by city and Godzilla gets bitten and can’t hit its opponent . They did both Godzilla and the villains like mechagodzilla and king ghidorah dirty .

1. The monsterverse is owned by legendary, not Warner Brothers 2. Not a fair comparison when the MV ACTUALLY stays true to the source material and was made by fans, the bayverse half the time didn't care to be accurate to the source material
