Toys R Us was too expensive, but I'll take them over having no toy stores. Because when they and KayBee were around, Walmart and Target were trying to compete with them, so they at least had a real toy selection.

facts, Man was never meant to buy their underwear.Tires milk and action figures in the same place. But that's what happens when corporations are allowed to run rampant and take over control of the consumers instead of the other way around. And it's rife with fraud all the way from the top right down to the stock Boys stealing action figures for them and their buddies to sell on ebay

I collect for fun, because the figure holds a special value to me. Whether its a character from a movie I loved or a video game I enjoyed. I don’t go with trends, I buy what I like and what I can afford. I’ve passed on a lot of figures because they are too expensive or I don’t like how they look. Here is my limit, nothing past $100 (only in some very rare instances). Buy less, you don’t need to have the room filled to the brim with plastic, there’s enough already out there.

I've been sitting on the sideline for years waiting for the prices to come down. With widespread 3D printing technology many new companies start making figures. And the old ones never stop. There are too many to buy but the economy was bad, inflation was high. Also less children were born and no longer play. Prices crashed as expected.

I kinda gave up on collecting early this year. Mainly because the figures I wanted were too hard to find. Even pre-orders would sell out within seconds. And too many figures that I really wanted were the collector's/alternate version of the figure I could easily find. This false scarcity just made made not want to collect at all. I see two figures I want in 2025 and then I'm done.

So you only collect for the thrill of finding things on the shelf? I collect figures because i like them not because I find them in a store I couldn't care less how I get them. In England we don't have many toy shops. Toys r us was the biggest one. The ones that are left are pointless and brands like neca have never been commercially released over here. 98% of my collecting is online and has been for years. For me the golden age of collecting was over when it became a known thing because now the prices are too high. When it was an underground hobby with only nerds figures were so much cheaper.

Resident Evil are pushing $80 used. Dragonball figures been sort of low even the older figures. Beasts wars are going up slowly.

Also, main reason is there weren’t movies or shows being made in my opinion that were worth buying statues from. In my opinion, I think it's just because there's a crazy amount of collectors and resellers these days. I can remember when I started collecting there was a pizza Spidey that peg warm in Walmart for like a few months. Only things that used to sell out were certain imports. Nowadays a fellow collector will go to the store see 5 warbirds not be interested in the character but will buy them all to sell and most imports don't sell out 😂😂😂 that's why i preorder. We really be watching toy hunt videos of people finding good stuff not realizing that The store they found it in will most likely not restock it😂 smh

Marvel Legends were on fire and MCU was exciting and got you excited to find the movie characters you loved. Then with Transformers, Hasbro started their War for Cybertron series and Studio series. GI Joe Classified was still yet to released a few years later. Mattel Started their Jurassic Park/World line and still had the DC license making decent stuff.

This whole new group of "collectors" have helped ruin it. KZbinrs buying 3,4 copies so they can rag on it or kitbash it. 100s of young kids getting them for nothing more than to review it, ,scalpers over charging, companies over charging, bc these reviews hype up one or two figures and the rest they all sit like vultures and wait for clearance which causes companies to raise prices SO THE CLEARANCE PRICE, still covers their chosen bottom line. It's become a joke, when it was once a fun, nostalgic hobby.

McFarlane releases new figures every 7 days but it’s all direct to consumer. Mattel is direct to consumer with their redline clubs and Mattel creations. And a lot of the stuff at Ross is still just stuff left over from the covid container backup.

I collect mainly Transformers and I am tired of 5-6 repaints per mold. It has been easy to pass and go to 3rd party figs. Classiifed and Blacks Series produce a handful a year at best now for me. It is just not the same when its all online and fhe "hunt" is long gone. Sad for sure but has been dead or in its death spiral for a while..... Not to brag but I’ve survived 6 toypocalypse at this point 😂😂😂. Ebbs and flows. Nature of the hobby. Although I admit it think Hasbro is either going down or there will be a drastic change.

Collector for 40+ years - so much overpriced and lazily produced stuff these days, especially by Hasblow - just can't keep up with it now what with everything else going up in the world.

I really wanted the agent liberty. But, getting it was made so expensive, and difficult, that I just made one from 1st appearance batman and called it a day. It seems absolutely impossible to get super powers jsa. I got dumped from my Amazon pre order and no one else is offering preorders. I'll just keep my damned pvcs. McFarlane just isn't worth the effort any more.

bro this is what happens when you collect trash Hasbro figures even mondo is just basically an overprices 12 inch marvel legends with crap articulation lmao better to save up and have a few really good quality figures than 500 cheap figures were 90% of them are reused parts. i only own 5 figures and they are all high end hot toy figures that will always hold value and people will always want them, i don't see the appeal in what's behind you, there too many to even admire and they are all in boring museum poses so it seems you dont even really enjoy them, it all just gets lost in the clutter.

Couldn't of said it better myself. Its definitely different collecting now, but there's some legit stuff out now. And honestly that museum look and old stuff is outdated. I get collecting but it's just clutter if not really enjoyed. Get a few cool things here an there, then flip the old until you're trade em or keep them in the collection. But I'm kinda tired of the hasbro static look.

Never seen such a disgruntled collector. And when you collect qaunity over qaulity these are the issues There are more manufacturers and lines than ever before. SMDH..Just gotta look. This channel should just be "ol head yells at clouds".Dont think I've ever seen him do an actual review?Or be happy.I mean there are literally 100s if not 1000s of small companies putting out stellar products from all lines and then some.Collecting should be fun not a source of burden, regret and anger.I just don't get it?

I cant even add anything to that LOOOL its awesome that people are watching him and seeing it for what it is, he is just going through something and he has built a community of people that thinks they are listening to a man that loves the same hobby as them but NO its not the same, he will absolutely put you off, if you're new to collecting.

Why not collect just for fun? Isn't that implied in the idea of 'collecting'? When I look at Funko Pops-seriously mass-produced and available everywhere (my local store exclusively stocks them, with little else on the shelves)-I struggle to see how they're meant to hold any value. Their entire ecosystem seems to be the exact opposite of what typically makes something valuable in the long term.
@thatoneguy378

You can't. That's the thing. It's not fun anymore. It's not fun when you have to chase down a toy and take the risk in getting ripped off all because you can't find the toy you want to collect in stores because folks snatch up everything they think is gonna make them some extra cash and you get stuck having to seek it out and take risks if you want something that you should be able to walk into any walmart anywhere and find. It's not fun because of scalpers and resellers.
