A scar might have been cool over the paint that was taken off, it would explain the height difference and added more to the character of him being a sailor. But the skin looks amazing ❤
@squelch1315 сағат бұрын
Came to say the same thing.. A scar would work so well on such an open skin area, would show him being battle hardened, and a true seafaring giant pirate

This is amazing! If you do ever attempt to do tattoos again it could be really cool to see how you approach potentially older/worn tattoos. As tattoos and the skin ages the ink slowly spreads and has a different tone. Particularly if you're looking at references of people that are exposed to sunlight a lot (surfers, fishermen or pirates) their tattoos always have a very different edge. It could really elevate and sell a story of 'an older geezer with some gross faded prison tattoos and sun spots'. Well done, really incredible stuff as usual.

Brilliant paint work, but for an ogre that is battle tested, his belly skin is still unscathed by scars or injury - while his limbs are nearly detached. Could apply scars to the area where the paint came off as an added level of detail that also works into the paint height difference, and stretch marks from the hips towards the belly button/distended belly or other pink/redder scarring. Of course, only if you’re not sick of working on the model :) good vid!

It's a very beautiful paint job here. However the visual storytelling would work a lot better if it would somehow explain why the guy doesn't care about the missing flesh on the arm. He doesn't look undead or anything to me, and therefore it feels like he shouldn't be able to hold onto the staff with all the missing nerves and all that.

as soon as i seen that blue tape on the model i knew what was going to happen.. i would have used a hairdryer on the tape to warm up the gum.. but well done for repatching.. myself i think i would have used some muliput and made it into a huge burn scar or something and turned it into a feature as do not think i could have matched it the way you did.. :) well done.

When the patches came up, I just thought 'oh he was in a fight with a sea-monster, like a shark attack scar'. I know it can be depressing to lose work, but this seems like an opportunity. You went with erasing it--which is fine, but it could have also been a chance to leave part of the tattoo missing--like it was torn off in the fight with the skin. There's plenty of reference online. You could pick anything from angry-red sunken scars to old pale knobby ones. Burns are another option. Maybe he took a warpfire shot to the gut.

I dunno this is painted super well but it just feels off to me. One of the details that would stand out to me as a judge is the fact that the arms and feet that are not attached to the giant anymore by anything other then a bone or wooden board have the same color flesh as the rest of him that is still connected. It does not matter what story you are trying to tell with it. Like if the legs or feet are recently been reapplied, they wouldn't have blood flow so the flesh tone would look different. Or if they were being powered by necromancy or something the winds of death being used to let him use the prosthetic limbs like they were his the color of the flesh would look grey or rotted maybe a little green would be good. It just looks super out of place as it is and like it's not finished to me even though it is finished and super well painted and awesome looking. If I was a GW golden demon judge those are the details that would stand out and why I would maybe not rate it as high as someone that was thinking of those details.
