I rode my 1995 CBR900RR today. Raw power, light weight, and wheelies on cue at nearly 30 years old. Twitchy front end is in part due to VERY good front brakes and a tendency to lift the rear wheel under hard braking. It's all analog, so there is no electronic babysitter to come save you if you powerslide into a wheelie and your reflexes can't keep up. That's why I love it. It is unapologetic, unrefined adrenaline in motorcycle form.

While growing up here in India, we could see most of these 90's and early 2000's bike in magazines & movies, I remember as a Kid.. seeing a Honda CBR Fireblade flyby one fine night, glimpsed only for few second was enough for me to fall in love with these mean machines. As a teenager we occasionally bumped into CBRs and Ninjas on fuel stations and were left in awe of those. The motorcycling scenario sky rocketed around 2010 and Hayabusa's were everywhere, even for a tier two city like ours. At 36 now, i eventually graduated myself to a 2019 Ninja 1000 starting from a 2005 Hero Honda CBZ 150.. but i still love these 90's era Japanese motorcycles.. their broader looks as well as their graphic kits were so vibrant and appealing compared to what we have these days. But I also reckon as it happens with almost everything around, the eras will repeat again after few years and we will have such boarder faired bikes once again in future, and they will come out of Chinese and Japanese manufacturers again.. I think we already have glimpse of that in CFMoto 500SR Voom ! Oh and thank you for making this video ! It will be forever saved in my watch later list.

Senior graduation 1991. Honda 600 F4-F4I. CBR-600, 600 hurricane, cramed a 900 between the rails, increased to 929 (oiling system built to withstand riding on one wheel forever), increased to 954, increased to 1000, one off year of 2007. I've had that 07 one off since 2012. My finances never allowed me to get the 600 in high school. But my dream never died. I watched the trend. The 5 coffee cans stacked together exhaust hanging off one side of bike making it visually asymmetrical. Like bell bottoms of the 70 being reintroduced today, with huge chunk of junk hanging off one side, today's bikes suck. Back when wheelie control, traction control, ABS, were between the ears, and not under the seat.

They both elicit speeds greater than posted limits every ride. 90s era bikes are so raw. Everything you need and nothing you don't. I don't think about it much until I see a video like this and it takes me back. Not a Honda guy at all but the bike that sticks out to me is the CBR900RR. 900 cc's with the weight of the 600. There was allot of talk about a possible steering defect at first but it seems it was just light and powerful and if the front wheel is barley contacting the ground under acceleration the bars can wiggle a bit.

Hi, great video mate. Interesting to watch and well made. I ride a yamaha thundercat which I rebuilt from the frame up. It's a great 90s bike. I remember the guys at work in late 90s who would talk excitedly about the new bikes coming out and competed with each other to be first in the group to ride one of the new models when they appeared in the showrooms. As I didn't start riding till about ten years ago I used to wonder what they were getting so excited about. Then one day I found a quiet stretch of good road, opened the throttle and let the revs climb above 7000 rpm. The bike came alive and......those conversation finally made sense. Only took 18 years lol😂. Thanks for posting this video.

Won wheelie contest at dragstrip with it and not to mention I hit I-95 South one day twisted the wick stood up on pegs and walked the chain on that beast at 130-140 Mph ( friend in 02 SS Camero COULDNT KEEP UP they were filming it) for 14 miles. Oh I loved that R1. Yes all those bikes from that era were beast from the 600's to the BUSA.. THAT WAS ALSO MY GOLDEN ERA.

And about the Kawasaki's - I'm getting a lot of feedback about me leaving out the 750, so I think I'm going to have to make a video about it. I'm currently in the works on a video about Kawasaki's history and need for speed!

My first bike was a 66 Honda super 90 in 1968. Then new1970 Suzuki Rebel 350, then a 1969 Kawasaki Mach III used in 1971, then a new Kawasaki Z1 900 stripped down, glass Cafe seat, glass Cafe tank, and full tace fairing. Bored to 1013, cam, head worked, kerker headers, full race fairing. Ran nesr 150. Then new 87 Kawasaki 1000R ran over 175 mph. I also had a new 88 Yamaha FZR 1000. It ran 168 MPH. Sweet bike probably my favorite. Them got away till this year I bought a 2024 ZX10R now I'm 72. I wouldnlove to ride a 88 FZR 1000 to compare. I was going to look for one but then didn't beant breakdowns or parts searching . Now that I have a new bike I may look for a 88 FZR 1000 to play with . Great bikes back then always making leaps and bounds in performance. Still taking my time to get use to the new ZX10R. It's unbelievable. 😊 I hate heavy bikes orbtiding upright. Thanks for the video.

Never had one problem with that or any of the bikes I owned. After that I got a Honda 94 CBR 1000F. It was red white and black. All were great bikes. Super reliable and plenty of power for me. Always wanted a Honda Blackbird but never got one. One of my all time favorites. I liked other makes and models like the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 and the Yamaha FJ 1200, but always liked the Honda s the best.

I still own 96 cbr 900 sc33. I have 5 bikes, but 3 different types. Two of it are 90s sport bikes.When I have an idea to swap it for something else and try some newer machines it always go bad for new one. Bikes after 2005 doesn`t have this type of connection with driver. Maybe I coudl run faster on a new bike because it has tc or abs but it doesn`t have that something that makes me smile. Engine that is running with carburetors gives that power much more lively, it is not smooth and I will love it for ever :). New bikes doesn`t have it, maybe it is because of fumes emission control. Nice video.

There is something to be said of machines having character and these 90's bikes definitely have character that's missing from new bikes.

Great video. I remember each one of these bikes and all the excitement around each one. I would however also include the 1980's in the "Golden Era". That's actually when all this really started. It was also the beginning of the "Golden Era" of motorcycle racing itself. The 1980's and 90's were a very special time in motorcycles and motorcycle racing. If you weren't there, well then sorry you missed it. Nothing since really comes close.
@da_garage383Ай бұрын
I'm glad you liked my video! I actually did have a video similar to this one that was about the Japanese sport bikes of the 80's that started this all. Funnily enough, I called that one a Golden Era as well. Unfortunately it got deleted from KZbin because someone complained about copyright issues... Sad because I gave everyone credit for their work plus I think it's obvious I'm not claiming the video clips to be my own. A lot of people really liked that video. It's a shame the whole video was deleted because someone got upset about a few short clips within it. ):
@scottsmith491Ай бұрын
@@da_garage383 I would have loved to see the earlier video that was deleted. You can't imagine how much excitement was generated when bikes like the original GSX-R were first released in the U.S. And the Honda "Interceptor" or the "FZ" 750 .

I owned a few of the best of the 90's ... 92 CBR 600 F2, 96 GSXR 759 & the OG 98 YZF R1 in one 9f the best liveries ever; red/white Marlboro colours. That bike was still one of the best bikes I have ever owned of the 30+ I have had the pleasure of owning. The handling, braking & stability were not matched for me until 09 YZF R1 I bought, but I had to modify it to match the level of o erall competence. [upgrade the brakes, re-valve the forks, lighter rims, adjustable rear-sets & put a steering dampner to name a few) but after all that, it was still to this fay the best bike I have owned. PS - 05 ZX 636 I owned [same mods] was almost as good, but gave up 50 RWHP so that is a big hole to fill. Plus, a 350+ lb deer decided to commit suicide by running in front of me & doing what deers do when they see headlights with me doing 60 MPH 😢

Not a bad list. I was lucky enough to start riding and was a teenager in that era. I was 15 in 1995 and got my first sportbike ( 1986 600R Ninja). There was the top speed race that you brought up with the zx-11, blackbird, and busa and that was a big deal for bragging rights back in the day. However the groups I was around it was really the 600's that most people were lusting after. The early 90's everyone wanted the CBR 600F2 , late 90's it was the R6 which I was lucky enough to ride the first year and was a game changer. In the early 90's most riders lusted over not only the 600's, but the 750's as that was the 2 main classes being raced. The zx7 and yzf750 were probably the top of the list in the early 90's for 750's Of course the CBR900RR was incredibly desired as an open class bike. And then when the SRAD came out in 96 it dominated the 750 class as well as the larger bikes until the r1 came out. What a great period for motorcycles. The bikes were getting the wider radial tires and the performance was improving dramatically in a short period of time all the way into the early to mid 00's. BTW I bought a 2001 GSXR1000 when I was 21 and I still remember riding that thing home like yesterday!
