How do you know its even the thermostat? There a visual inspection for that? Besides, thermostat isn't usually a water pourer. You got water pouring out you got a bad hose or radiator leak.

There are a chance of two outcomes find something or find nothing but the chances of finding something are not 50/50. If you dig in your back yard 50/50 you'll find water but if you dig in the desert 10/90 chance of finding water same two outcomes are possible but the odds are different

Obviously it's a water pump broken. Apparently NO one knows how a thermostat works . Not to mention no one in a warm climate needs a thermostat. They slow the water to keep a engine warm in cold weather By The Way voice guy

The thermostat can be the problem if its is frozen closed it will make it over heat and boil over and its a diesel so it does need it cause the motor temp is important to it running smooth if it was a gas motor then yeah it doesn't matter

I've been a gold miner, and I've seen brand new heavy duty equipment fail just from processing tons of dirt and rocks. You do have to constantly fix things even with new equipment. Think of driving a Cadillac down a 400 mile long dirt road filled with potholes and wall to wall rocks of all sizes.

When a show such as this say that X is 'running out of time and cash', that is purely to create urgency and suspense for the audience. Without any dramatic theming, these types of programs would be an absolute bore. There's a little bit of truth to losing money, the cost of operations to attempt to dig for gold can run in the thousands. Chris and Greg are objectively poorly equipped to handle a profitable operation prospecting professionally but that being said, the cost of fuel, machinery and labour isn't a cheap outing.
