Brilliant idea… 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 One minute golf clubs are operating a “dead man’s shoes” membership, next minute they’re losing members and they’re closed (did someone say Renishaw Golf Club..? 👀) They’re onto something at Silkstone and great to see a forward thinking golf club. I think they were complaining about the use of the logo, but you’re right, I mean, Liv should be thankful of all the support they can get considering they’re the new kid on the block.

This is a cracking idea. Its similar to what they have been doing at lawn bowls clubs in NZ and Aus (probably other places); with Beers, Bowls and Burgers/ Barefoot Bowls. Relaxed atmosphere, casual dress, music BBQ/ pizzas etc. Attract younger participants. Generates much needed income for the clubs and a % take up the game seriously, boosting membership.

Bowling in the uk could also take a leaf out of this book! I’ve seen more life in a graveyard than the bowling clubs in the uk. Average age is 80 lol 😅

Great vlog Gary. We are doing something very similar to this at golf club I play at this weekend. We call ours Party on the Rang which it definitely is! We are into our third year now and year by year we see a small increase in numbers attending. It is thinking outside the box that is needed and sometimes taking a risk. Great to see that you are becoming a KZbin celebrity. Well deserved 👍

LIV is one of the best things to happen in Professional Golf. The PGA tour of America had ruined too many tours. Australia was a well supported tour, the Australian Open was like a junior major, the leading professionals from the tour were poached by the PGA and the Aus tour has almost died, same happened to our European Tour and of course the Sunshine tour in Africa. So this clubs idea of celebrating LIV is great, it’s a truly global tour, accessible to all and generating interest from a new generation of golfers, what’s not to like. Bring on LIV at JCB

First time watching your channel and have now subscribed. I had been a full member at Silkstone for the last couple of years but wasn’t playing enough to warrant £1k+ annual membership. They did away with PMG recently and to get more people involved their needs to be more flexible pricing/arrangements in place for the occasional golfer. Great to see something new though and enjoyed the footage 😁

Thanks buddy. I didn’t know they’d come off PMG. That is a-shame for the more infrequent playing golfer. Someone said they do offer a flexible membership though, I did mean to find out, but I didn’t get around to it.

We've got a couple of visits planned to Silkstone Gaz, Family society day in early August and Jamie is playing a Union event there the weekend before. I have played it before a good few years back - and I know it's a fantastic club with a modern attitude to golf. Would love to see my club adopting an event along these lines, but in the meantime I've jumped on the Silkstone socials so if anything like this is planned for the future I can pick it up. Ma and Jamie are both big fans of LIV - it absolutely has a rightful place in the pro game going forward - just as Tiger and Rory's TGL does. 👍

It’s definitely the goal for the club in the coming years, and I think they’ll definitely be hosting more of these events! You should both enjoy it, it’s in lovely condition atm.

@@garymartingolf No idea yet! I’ll be joining the morning ‘caddy chaos’ where we find out who’s bag we’ll be carrying. Then the next three days I’ll be carrying the scoreboard, hopefully with Brysons name written on it! I cannot recommend volunteering at events enough. It’s just such a buzz walking inside the ropes with major winners.

@@garymartingolf I live on the Costa Del Sol, so it’s a short drive for me. Last year I was interested in just attending the event to see what LIV was all about, but saw the volunteer page on the website, which sounded much more fun. I ended up ball spotting on the 17th, finding and guarding wayward duck hook drives. We received free food, coffee and drinks the entire day and a LIV polo, half zip, cap and a free round on the Monday for completing the shifts, which is the norm. I also got on to the list that now emails me about every single LIV and DP World Tour event I can volunteer at. I’ve since scored rounds for the LET at La Sella and DP Andalusia Masters where I got to walk with the players with an ipad and earpierce, relaying the players shots to the broadcast. The highlight has been walking with Wyndham Clark, Ryan Fox and Adrian Meronk, who all gave me time at the end for selfies and a quick chat. Fingers crossed I’ll be walking with Bryson next week because the scoreboard holder usually gets the ball at the end!

LIV is missing a trick here they should of jumped at the chance to support this and roll it out to more clubs as a way of bring ling people into local clubs and to LIV as a whole.
