The Golvo Returns 2021 - New Sequential Gearbox Setup - Dyno Session

New Setup Testing making 825hp on a dyno dynamics.
Changes from previous setup are
Xona rotor turbocharger
Maxxecu
Quaife Qke45z Awd Sequential gearbox
3.5" Exhaust system
The bare engine remains the same running wiseco pistons and Pauter Rods in a 2.3L but now running solid lifter valvetrain to cope with the extra engine revs from the larger turbo at 2.5 bar boost pressure.
Plans are to increase boost to 3 bar in the coming months after some track testing at the current power level.

This would be a dream come true for me. Had a mk3 4dr golf was the 2.0 8v aba but i loved thar car. Lime green, enkei wheels, roof spoiler, 3" straight pipe w/ magnaflow, front lip, was slow as shit but i loved it!! Now i have a 98 s70 t5 manual with a b5234t9 from an 04, hybrid billet turbo, 3" turboback, wmi, etc etc full bolt on. Only half your power level but such a fun street car. Just put a chrome moly light flywheel and sachs 707 pressure plate. I love the volvo inline 5 and although i love the p80 chassis putting it in a vw mk3 chassis w/ 800hp+ oh man... Wet dream...

Why did you choose volvo engine over vr6 at the beggining of this project.Was it more practical or you just had spare volvo engine laying around?

3 reasons really. 1 money, 2 sound and 3 weight. In the beginning in 2008 a vr6 engine wasnt all that cheap of a conversion and even then I'd only have had an unboosted v6 @ 170hp ish. If I could get the t5 in the hole I'd have around 300hp with minor tweeking. The whole donor car was £250 which for me on £150 a week wages was much more viable even with the extra man hours. I wanted a 5 cylinder engine because I love the sound of them. And Heavy, a cast vr6 is an anvil compared to an all aluminium T5 engine so better to drive.

Lots of reasons. Dirt cheap, strong ect But the main reason was I wanted a 5 cylinder. In 2008 there was only the fiat engine and the volvo engine in a transverse layout so I chose the volvo engine.
