The Good And Bad Of An Electric Cargo Bike

After spending the last three weeks with the KBO Ranger electric cargo bike, this is what I think so far.

FYI: The ranger has a larger rear rack option, large cargo bag, and even a folding trailer available, many different configurations.

Meant to say "electric" not "budget", thanks for pointing that out... On that note, I wonder if any pedal cargo bikes can take a two stroke? A true budget cargo bike might be a fun build! I'll keep an eye out for them.

The handling situation you described in the early part of your video, I believe that is caused by the rake and trail of the bicycle. Rake, Trail or Offset is an angle measured on the ground in centimeters between two points: 1). extrapolate a line from the headtube to the ground and 2). draw a line perpendicular or straight down from the front axle to the ground (this line should intersect the ground behind the line from the headtube}. The distance between the two points is the Trail. That distance determines whether a bicycle is easy to ride with no hands and more difficult to steer, or a shorter Trail distance makes the bicycle a bit unsteady and easier to maneuver. I'm not trying to tell you something that you probably know more than me. I know you don't have time. I see a lot of similarity between your excellent video and that of Cam Engineering in his you tube 120 mile ride on train rails with his ebike. If you find time please check that. I'm curious what you think about his video. Thank you for your relaxing and pleasurable videos.

Bicycle engineers should develop more of 24" e-cargo bicycles. Rad Power has one that has 22" wheels.

What's the charging voltage? A fold up solar panel could charge while camping

For the bike itself, it'd still need to use the included AC charger (since the batteries will usually require the included charger for safety), and I'm guessing it'd need at least 100w - 150w to charge with uninterrupted sun. I've seen examples of solar-charged/powered eBikes.. they just seem to border on being barely practical lol
