THE GOOD AND BAD OF THANKSGIVING 2023

Thanks for sharing the good and the bad of holidays. This was my first holiday since my husband passed and I didn’t want to do anything. But then I realized all of the things I have to be thankful for. I have 2 wonderful sons & 2 beautiful grandchildren of which I am very thankful for. So I went out for dinner with our dear church friends and had a really nice time. Yes its hard not hearing my husband preach but we all need to always remember the good things in life. I am so very sorry for your loss. 10 yrs ago I lost my mom just before Easter. It was very hard on our family. But I have 10 beautiful grandkids, 4 beautiful children and their spouses. Any Holiday was my mom favorite. I have such wonderful Cherished memories from whenI was going up , then having my kids and grandkids.

Evan your sister is so sweet and I think about that all the time when something frustrating happens - yes it's holding you back for now but maybe it's a blessing in disguise. About 15 years ago, I was on my way to work and i left my lunch. I turned around to go home and get my lunch. On the road was a 8 car pile up that had just occurred and I just missed it. The police were arriving when I made it there. So yes, remember the train could be God keeping you from harm.

30+ years ago when we had small kids either one of them would be sick every holiday. July 4, 1984, our 2 year old son stuffed mini Hershey Kisses in his ears then announced that he couldn’t hear. By the time we arrived to the clinic, the chocolate melted. Now we have grandkids who are just like their parents. Some day your family will look back at these times and treasure the memories. I just love how you all really thanked God by looking at the daily care of our Lord. For the longest time growing up that Thanksgiving was my holiday because my birthday is so close to thanksgiving. My uncle finely told me that it wasn't. Even as an adult I still think it is. When you have a big family it makes the holiday so much more fun. I hope you have a great holiday season.

I remember going to a women’s Church conference and they talked about journaling. One of the journals should be a grateful journal where every night you write down what you’re grateful for from that day. It’s amazing when your feeling down to look back and remind yourself that the times you feel down are just a moment and the that journal reminds you of all of the gratitude you have in your life. Listening to you close out the video was so sweet. It is so true that we have to appreciate what we have in our lives. My brother was killed suddenly in work/construction accident in May, and this Thanksgiving was really hard for our family. He was 52, and taken at the prime of his life. Take time for those people that matter in your lives, we don't know what tomorrow will bring.

When my daughter was growing up in the 80’s Thanksgiving time period was always bad. She got sick many years. When she was 20 months we all gathered at my in-laws for dinner. My daughter was kind of fussy. Fortunately she was in a high chair not at the table and puked all over the dining room. Another year she had pneumonia the week between Christmas and New Years. I had strep throat last year at Christmas. This year my Golden Retriever puked on my bedroom carpet at 1:30 am Thanksgiving morning. 😊 I hope you all were able to enjoy some of the holiday.

I always got sick during my annual leave/ before a big event. Best advice I heard is one month before a big event/holiday start taking extra care of yourself/your kids. Take an immune booster, eat extra healthy, ensure you don't get cold, etc. I do this now and I no longer get sick before a big event/annual leave.

Happy holiday season. I had to stop on two days before Thanksgiving to not complain about so much to do but right away 4-5 things came to mind to be grateful for. I stopped and being grateful changed the way I went through the rest of the day. God is always good even when we are not. We love because of Him. God IS love. You always say things that seem directed at me. I just the other day said I need to focus on who I have in my life. It's hard when you are mourning to focus on anything but the person you lost. My son was murdered 12-10-17. During that time of heavy mourning. A beautiful man named Bill came into my life. We started out as friends. Then became best friends. Then he asked me to marry him. He was so wonderful at helping me through my son's death. Then on 4-22-23 we were driving home from dinner. A impaired driver hit us head on. My fiancee was killed. I almost died. It's been horrible. I didn't celebrate Thanksgiving. I don't know why I said that but. I don't know how to live life right now. Your videos help me.
