Hey Victoria, I know you probably already know this, but I just want you to know that you have truly helped so many animals all over the world. If I hadn’t found your channel I probably would have gotten a tiny tails cage for my new hamster, but after seeing your videos and finally realizing that hamsters are truly living animals and not just toys or decor in your room I decided to buy an IKEA detolf, and that I need to treat hamsters like the amazing animal they truly are. I guess I just wanted you to know that you’ve made the lives of thousands (possibly hundreds of thousands) animals so much more enjoyable and a life where they can thrive and not just survive. -nicole

Yes, same with me. My last, and first, hamster lived in a tiny cage form jollyes but I have scraped that cage now that's hes passed. He live till 3 and only at the end of his life did I learn it was all wrong, tiny cage, ball, etc. Needless to say, with your channel shedding light on it I have done so much research. Now once theres room in my house, my mum has said I will get another hamster. This time a Syrian, rather than a dwarf. He/she will have what Husky deserved, all thanks to you. Thank you! - Elle.

Yes, same I had my hamster in a 10 gallon aquarium and now she is in a 75 gallon I think and it is huge and she has so much room to run a play (she is a robo dwarf)

I completely understand your choice to rehome Saffron. Something I find to be quite rewarding when rehoming a pet is asking their new owner to send you a picture of them (maybe he could send a picture of him holding saffron once he works with him). This lets you see them is their new circumstances (which are usually slightly better than their old situation), and know that you made the right choice. 💕 🦎

Having pets with issues is difficult but it sounds like it was a good decision on your part to rehome Saffron. That way he can get the one on one attention he needs and it's great that his new owner is going to keep you updated. In the end, if a pet is scaring you, and they too are distressed, all you can really do is find them a better home. Try not to worry about anyone judging you for rehoming. If they are going to a good home, it's all the validation you need really. Chloe's results are a least good so hopefully her next check up goes well too. Remember to take some time for self care and I hope next week is better for you n the pets! ❤️

I really need to say this: you have changed me and my hamsters life. I started off my buying my hamster a crittertrail :(. He lived in there for about 2 weeks, until my mom (thank god) told me it was too small. So, i got a slight upgrade. It was a ferplast cage, with only 330 square inches of floorspace. He lived in here for about 4 months... and then i started watching your channel, and it inspired me so much. When you did your cage reaction video, i finally realized how i was treating my hammy, so i bought a bin cage, and put 6 inches of bedding. My hamster was so happy, and then i decided that i wanted to dedicate my life to making sure these creatures had amazing lives. today, all my hamster live in ikea detolfs, and natural themed cages. i dont know how to properly thank you, so ill just say: thank you.

@@hamsterlife5183 hi- so this is a few months later lol. I actually wouldn’t recommend the retold for MOST Syrians. It isn’t exactly high enough for a big enough wheel or enough bedding depth. If your Syrian is pretty chill, or on the smaller side, it might work. My Syrian was happy in it, but for the most part, it is better suited to dwarves Good luck!!! ;)

I’m adopting a 2-month old rescue hamster on Friday. He was kept by a very uneducated owner who tried to keep two male Syrians together. Luckily they were very young and didn’t physically fight, but the rescue hamster was bullied in terms of food and water. I’m so glad the owner made the decision to re-home him before anything worse could happen, and I’m so excited to take him in and care for him. I think it just shows that re-homing an animal can be the right choice for their wellbeing, and you definitely made the correct decision with Saffron ❤️

I was legit worried about Lenny the whole time because I thought you were saving the worst news for last and each time you mentioned a different pet that wasn't Lenny I was like "Oh no! I hope Lenny is okay." But then you surprised me with good news about him at the end. Thank goodness he's doing okay. I assume no change on his private parts sticking out though. But at least it's not bad news like I was expecting for the whole video. As for your mental well-being, I hope things improve for you soon. I go through depression quite a lot and can relate to you on that. And I'm glad you said "It's okay to not be okay". That's a good reminder for us all that bad days do happen but you shouldn't let that bring you down even further. Bad days are a part of life, and as long as you don't let one bad day influence the next day you'll be alright. Good days are right around the corner too. So just take care of yourself and fulfill your own needs but don't dwell on the negativity. I am very much a fan of your personality and the way you deal with life changes in general. Please know that you are in my thoughts and I'm pulling for you to have good things happen.

We appreciate your honesty and sharing your stories both good and bad. I've learned so much from watching your channel. My daughter is 16 and found your channel when we got her hamster. I had to rehome my dog when I developed severe postpartum depression. Every time I saw her I couldn’t handle my emotions. We found her an amazing home. Now that I recovered, I miss her so much. Rehoming isn’t a bad thing.

I know hamster can take years to tame but I just feel like I’m torturing him constantly, due to the fact that he could almost go into shock everytime I even try to hand feed him. I’m willing to wait as long as I need to for a good owner (experienced) though. So I can’t take him to the vet. Do health checks, weigh him, touch him, or even just check if he is alright close enough. I just feel it would be best for him to go to someone experienced. Because I’ve done tons of research but someone who’s had a hamster before would know 10x more.

i could never be angry at you for that i have had to re-home a hamster before when i was younger as i simply didnt have the time to care for it or to give it the care it needed you do whats best for you not for anyone else and if anyone hates on you for that clearly they dont understand why you did that doing that is really hard and for you to do that it would have taken a lot of strength and i support you and im sure lots of others do too because mental health is important and you did the right thing for you and for saffron 🤍✨ im proud of you for speaking up about it and telling everyone the truth 🤍🤍👑

Hey Victoria, I have a question. My hamster has had hair loss on her back from scratching so much, and I’m pretty positive it’s mites. She had two types of bedding in her cage: aspen shavings and paper bedding. (She burrows in the paper bedding, and the aspen was just the more “shallow,” bedding). I took out the aspen and replaced it with all paper bedding, just in case it was irritating her skin. I did in fact freeze the bedding I put in her cage. The only problem is my parents are hesitant to taking her to the vet, because it can be quite expensive. She will also make this strange noise randomly. It doesn’t sound like a squeak, but it’s like a weird raspy throat noise. It might just be a happy squeak, but she’s never been the type of hamster to just squeak. She will do it everywhere. In her burrow, on her wheel, in her playpen, etc. I’m not sure what to do with her if we can’t take her to the vet. Do you have any more ideas? 💕 (Shes living in a 608 sq in cage and sadly I can’t get any larger.)

I had the same thing happen to my hamsters! It turns out that they were allergic to Timothy hay, but I took them to the vet anyways just to make sure it wasn’t mites. I cleaned out their cages and the vet gave me mite medication just in case. Overall the vet visit wasn’t expensive at all, under $50 total with medication. I would call the vet in your area and see how much it would cost for them to see your hamster so you can let your parents know!

If she does have mites the only way to solve it would be medication, even if you change out the bedding or freeze it they’ll still need to kill the original mites effecting them!

It's great you're so open about your pet care and showing that pet ownership is not just cuddles and cute instagram photos ❤️ I also want to thank you for opening my eyes regarding hamster care. I had a lot of hamsters since my childhood ("starter pet", right...) and in hindsight I am really ashamed and sad for what conditions they lived in. After watching ton of your videos I started my own research and I plan to move both my hamsters to bigger enclosures soon. I know this is like forever ago, but, my crested gecko completely changed about 2 years after owning him, and he is super insane, jumps frantically, bites constantly, won't settle down if he is taken out, jumps and runs for his life. I feel like this just happens to cresties sometimes. I do still have Superman but I haven't held him in a relaxing way in nearly 7 years. I didn't think anyone else would have wanted him. I still love him. :/ good for you for rehoming instead of keeping an animal that made you scared!

I think it’s very responsible of you that you made the choice to rehome him. It’s not bad to be scared of an animal. Sometimes I get like that when my cats bite me, it’s only because I don’t want them to be scared of me. It was very kind of you to give Saffron a new home. I’m sure he’ll love it :D
