This is great!! 35:00 Some of the long range summit flight videos being posted are definitely breathtaking. Odd emotions come out, more so during this ridiculous year. Seeing the sheer beauty from a birds eye view makes me forget about the chaos for a minute. This is one of the reasons I want to fight the FAA so viciously on the nprm front. It’s another freedom attempting to be taken away from the people. I need to be able to fly. It’s not a matter of want.

At 108.30 there was a quick mention of attaching a DJI FPV System to an inspire 2 Would you attach to the gimbal or the body ?? On the gimbal makes more sense as your seeing exactly what your footage will be as opposed the natural movement of the drone Although the concerned is too much weight and strain on the gimbal ? Even more so on a mavic which would be an even better choice It would be a magic combination and I’m really surprised the cinematic FPV community isn’t all over this! Would love to get some feedback on pros and cons Sorry for the long question Cheers

I think the entire 1:10:00 segment spells out why the upcoming DJI quad actually has real utility, and realistically I think you just spelled out what their requirements document consists of in order for it to be a good build.

As a recovering film student, I really appreciate that you guys all notice the basics that are missed (composition, montage editing basics, missing establishing shots, etc.). These are reasons to love this show.

I think aerial cinema had a huge over use when it was new, but now it’s tapered off some because it’s not as new now as it was 3 years ago. FPV will do the same, but if the potential it has with flexibility (indoor to outdoor shots and putting a camera basically anywhere) is realized then it won’t ever fade out.

Are there any tutorials or blogs on flying with camera down-tilt? Interested to hear best applications, pros-cons and any pilot orientation issues. Really want to build a platform for backcountry snowboard trips but wondering about other uses.

As the the creator of the DJI gimbal and the first to ever shoot from a drone with a actively stabilized gimbal for a movie I've always seen the FPV industry as a fun little hobby that had no real use in cinema except for very specialized shots. The few times I've tried FPV I crash within seconds and can't believe the crap quality of the video. But now that you can get legit cameras and have great video googles (thanks to DJI) I recently got into FPV in a big way and now believe FPV is actually safer then how we've been doing it for the last 10 years. We've done about 100 car commercials in Malibu canyon with both helicopters and drones and I'm now convinced FPV is the future of dynamic safe shots. I've been looking into converting a few of our I2's with the DJI FPV system, are there any videos on how to do that? A few thoughts.... It's critical that the majority of FPV drone shots be done second unit, off schedule, in a low pressure environment. The rules that have developed for onset drone use are actually creating UNSAFE operations that get boring unmotivated shots. The gratuitous use of FPV cinematic shots that don't advance the story will be bad, killing the audience reaction wow factor. The sound level needs to come down on the motors.

I was wondering if gc being slightly below prop line and slightly forward. would give it a natural stable slightly forward default cruise. a natural angle mode. Be cool to test different cg's Like if that camera was hung below the Siccario. wouldn't it be super stable? as opposed to on top and super agile ?

You could go into Beta flight, set your drone on something to get the angle you want and then calibrate it. It will think it is flying level but, at the angle you set.

Me too! Think how much more relaxed you could fly acro, when you know if you get into trouble on side of a mountain, flick a switch that would take over get you stable, then flick back to acro. Also return to home would be nice to initiate and it actually work.

@@NURKFPV Yeah, there's some definite applications where GPS hold into FPV to chase subjects ends up being a crazy capability. Also, semi-autonomous follow would be pretty rad.

Don't take this the wrong way. I like the podcast but my ears glaze over when the conversation is at length about the film industry. More drone related content less film industry please.
