I was born in 1956 in New Zealand and grew up on a farm. We made kites too, and bows and arrows. We also made trolleys with old pram wheels and sometimes old lawnmower wheels. Our road had a steep hill and we would race our trolleys down it hoping cars wouldn't come and spoil our fun. We never put brakes on our trolleys so we had many cuts and scrapes but would drag our trolleys back up the hill and do it all over again. We used to catch the horses and ride over to the river and spend the day there; when we were ready to ride home we would find the bridles hanging on the fence and the horses were long gone back to the farm, so we would have to walk a couple of miles home. I wouldn't change my childhood for the world. I really enjoyed this today, thank you so much.

I was born in the early 70's in NZ. Growing up in small town...big family in a small house. Paper dolls was my favorite. So different back then. But so many good memories too. Less stuff but less stress.

I grew up in the 50's. I had mini boxes with my grocery cart to play with. My Barbie was an actress, A designer, a writer long before all those kinds came out. I loved reading Nancy Drew, Vogue, Madamselle, Seventeen. One year my prom gown was on the cover. I had a black gown with ostrich feathers, opera gloves and a white evening coat for my senior prom. I loved fashion and the English look. Yes, so was a flower child! My second apt. in Pittsburgh I had this neighbor come down to introduce himself. A huge black guy that took up my doorway. He said I play for the Pittsburgh Steelers I asked what college team was that! I learned very quickly who the Steelers were. A great bunch of men and yes he won one of the Super Bowl rings! During the weekend the suburbanites would come to Shadyside, a part of Pgh. and look at the hippies. Wall to wall cars and people. Of course we all stayed in because who wanted to go out in that mess! Yes the good old days!!!! And I would go to NYC, the clubs! To be in my 20's again. But my 40's were great, I went back to college then in my 50's I went to college again and got my Masters. Now in my 70's I am downsizing an planning to go to a high rise eventually. So much stuff to get rid of. My 60's I bought my own house. So every decade I have have done something different. Oh yes, I had cancer and was getting a divorce. Cancer all gone, didn't have to have chemo or anything. God is my co puppet and has always been with me. He has plans for me, some came to be and new ones will come up. Take care Angela That is.some of my old days!!!!

I remember mom allowing us to takeoff the screen of a window. I can’t believe looking back that she would do that, but she did. And we would play Bank . It was so fun and she even let us play with the small papers that had bank information. But at that time it wasn’t dangerous to do that, but we had so much fun. And we would play tennis. The net would be a water hose and we would have sticks oh my goodness our sticks for decorated and we had so much fun hitting the ball over and over. It was a beach ball they have the best time with our imaginations. And the fun, I will never forget this. We had a coffee can and we would put our treasures in there. And bury them. It was so fun. We would play marbles and we would make up so many games with the marbles. I remember asking mom for Christmas if we could have marbles. Can you imagine something so simple.

Thanks for sharing your understanding of certain words. It is difficult today to stay ahead of the direction that language is going. I am older than you (84) and i am not a happy chicken with some of these changes. You are a very kind, clever creative woman and I enjoy your chats. I shall continue to follow you. ❤

I totally agree with you on All points. My Hubby watches with me when he can. He said it is amazing how your thoughts and values are so much like mine. I can't stand hearing the "F" word. I don't watch the ones that use it. I appreciate that you remind folks that some words and behaviors are not OK

My beautiful momma never ever said a bad word. We would tell her “Mom, say that sucks!” And she would laugh and ask us in Spanish why we would want her to say calcetines (socks). She never drank, never smoked, never said a bad word, never spoke ill about anyone. She was such a wonderful mother. Both of my parents were wonderful people. My dad was from Ohio and yes he did swear. I miss them both so much. We were 5 sisters. No brothers. We would play house. We would rearrange the furniture in one room and pretend it was our house. We would make a living room area, a kitchen, a bedroom, an office, etc and we would pretend to visit each other in our houses and have tea. It was so fun. We continue to be very united and close. I wish I could go back and be little again. We had a very nice childhood. Great video. You are a wonderful person. Thank you for sharing your life with us.

Morning miss Angela. You know I was born in 62 but I remember doing alot of those things I think we had it good. You know what I did I had barbies I would make my own earings by taking those straight pins with the colorfull balls and you always go two of each color so I would cut them down awoke them right at the bottom of barbies ears and they looked like real pearl earings and I had a color for each outfit. So funny any time I get tissue out of my temu hauls I say tissue for Angela😅 your grand girls are adorable.

I loved paper dolls. My sister and I would cut out ladies from my mother's catalogs and cut out their clothes. We played for hours. Never bored because we also had lots of work to do!! We grew up along the river and did a lot of fishing. I was born in 1960. Simple times back then. AMEN give us older folks a break!!!

We had lots of kids in our neighborhood. We played school, house, lots of tag-type games, Pokeno, Flinch, and we took turns having a fair at our homes. Games would be a penny and prizes would be toys we no longer played with. The year my mother was pregnant with my brother, I tried to charge for the kids to see the fat lady...but my mom made me give the money back. 😂 Miss those fun, carefree days!

Spent a lot of time playing with the neighbor kids playing tag and baseball. we roller skat with skates that you fastened onto your shoes and used a key to tighten them up, rode bikes and scooters We stayed out till dinner time told our parents where we were at.

😊 oh I love hearing other people's playtime stories from my generation I was a kid in Sauk Center Minnesota and we used to put on a lot of plays for the little neighborhood kids and charge them a penny and then we would go horseback riding all the time we had friends who had like a big farm on the country and we'll see horses lived on it and we would go out traveling all the time for hours and then my phone call about my brother a horse and his name was Thunder and once when my mom was gone he rode the horse in the back door and straight through and out the front door oh boy did we laugh. Lots more memories where that came from

so much fun in the olden days. when we were so glad when the new Sears and Roebuck catalog came out so we could make the old one into a door stop, sit in the car and pretend driving.... the outside games too numerous to mention. I loved the new flour bags that mother could make a pretty dress.

Angela. You are exactly right. That’s the way I was raised. In a very small town with lots of different cultural traditions in comparison to today. It is so hard to adapt to the language of this generation. They don’t understand us and put us down before they realize that what comes normal to us and is inappropriate to today’s generation. I give up Somedays. I never mean no harm to anyone ever just like you. I don’t think my brain can comprehend any differently than when I was growing up. I certainly wouldn’t ever say anything about your language. I hope people understand that. It’s all generational indeed. 😊

No money for uniforms, so the girls went around to neighbors and friends to collect old broken umbrellas to make the uniforms out of. (cheap material today would fall apart lol) Her mother was a seamstress like you and made all the uniforms for the girls. Not sure how the team did, but the girls looked great. The Good Ole days.
