When Jesus went out in Galilee
So much darkness he did see.
The people were lost without a shepherd to guide
So Jesus had compassion and showed them the light.
He’s the good, good shepherd
The good shepherd,
Yeah, full of God’s love and care.
A true shepherd knows all his sheep by name
Spends time with each, doesn’t treat them all the same.
A shepherd keeps us fed with the truth of God’s Word
Encouraging the heart in what we’ve seen and heard.
Jesus showed Peter his true worth
Told Nicodemus about the new birth
Spent time with publicans and sinners
Taught them God’s Word so that they could be winners.
Zacchaeus, Lazarus, Martha, Mary, just a few of those under his care.
He nourished them, strengthened them, helped with the burdens they had to bear.
Now we today can follow in his steps,
Taking care of people, giving them God’s best.
Make the time to tell them of Christ’s story
And when the shepherd comes, receive a crown of glory.
