On the wind- In Laramie, the first time I changed the oil on my Miata: I was living in a trailer park- so not even wide open space- And this car has about 5"-6" total ground clearance- The wind managed to blow the oil completely sideways and miss the catch pan under the car, with about 2"-3" between the car and pan.

I think its all perspective. I moved to Gillette a little over a year ago.... from the Denver area. People here are nice, the town is clean. People keep to themselves, mind their own business. It's very family orientated. Working class families. If that ain't for you, don't move here. Yes the wind sucks in the winter...BTW wyoming has one of the lowest rates of people on welfare. People work here...

I've been to that original KFC in Corbin, KY near I-75. It's worthwhile going to see it, because part of it is a preserved motel room from the 1930s that The Colonel owned next to the chicken restaurant. It's interesting to imagine people motoring down the old highway 90 years ago and staying in it. It was pretty nice for its time. Carry a bucket of chicken back to your motel room after a long day's drive down from someplace like Detroit to Florida, which people started doing in the 30s. But, yeah, the town and others like it in Eastern Kentucky are Sticksville. No way could anybody not born there tolerate living there. If you want to see real degeneration, take one of those loop roads that takes you 20 miles east of the Interstate, then loops back. You'll go through places that make the people in the movie "Deliverance" look urbane.

I have vacationed in Jackson 3 times. I absolutely loved it BUT I agree with many of Cappy's points. My observations are the wildlife and outdoors are some of the most beautiful in the US. Definitely a great place for photographers. I'm from Florida so I'm grateful to have something other than a swamp. There are very few people. There are very few restaurants/hangout establishments you see in large cities. The weather is nice from May-December but outside of that it can be brutally cold and windy.

LMAO! I have lived here in WY all my life. Most certainly an introvert. Function in my own little world here. You have to have plenty of hobbies for sure. Plan on doing them alone. Because many here are not into such things. (Not unless it can include Beer.) Most certainly can vouch for Cappy's content. Favorite past time for most all is drinking. After work hours it's best to stay out of traffic. It's a race to the liquor stores before home. Although! From what I have seen. WY is not exclusive to this culture. Montana is boring, North & South Dakota, Nebraska, Oregon. Not much of a change from what I can tell. Don't know much about the Eastern part of the country. Never was anywhere long enough to learn the culture. But then again! I am not a drinker and go to bars as such.

Wyoming is a beautiful place to visit, be a Tourist, take pics and videos, check out some cool tourist stuff, and have fun. To the Live there is the Complete Opposite ,Sky High Unemployment in every city and town, many into the double digits, constant business, closures, foreclosures. The State is in Economic Free Fall and it getting worse, The Oil and Gas, Coal Industries have all but shut down, been closed in Wyoming, along with thousands of jobs with it. Property taxes are Sky High, Rents are Crazy High even small Crummy old Rental Shacks, expect to pay $ 900 to well over $ 2000 a Month, The Rental Game in the State is a huge Con Game, Charging people crazy high deposits, got pets ? you'll pay a , usually $ 500 to $ 800, Non Refundable Deposit, Its all designed to separate you from your money, Landlords know most Renters wont make it in the State past a Year, and many times " Rentals' are sold out from underneath Renters, leaving them stranded, this happens all the time, Everything is Crazy Expensive there are few jobs, most are seasonal and low paying, Utility bills can easily exceed $ 900 to well over $ 1500 a month for even small apartments and small houses, Blizzards and Ice ,Sub Zero Temps often Close Roads and Highways, your Stuck ! Crime, Drugs, have become Serious problems in the State, Especially Cheyenne and Casper, The State is falling apart as has been the last 5 years, Cool Place to Visit, Be very careful about moving up there it wont be what you think.
