@stevenjones67803 ай бұрын
This brings back such memories! When I got my '77 back around 1995 it had been 22R rebuilt and new brakes so I didn't need to do much mechanically. The first thing I did was gut the coach as you are here. After I did some things to preserve the original rubberized tent skirt I got busy putting back in. I had very little budget or electrical experience, but fairly useful woodworking/cabinetry skills and a keen sense of floor plan. I ended up living full time in it all over the Santa Barbara area until I hit the road in Fall of '98. That journey took me all through the Northwest and Western Canada ending up eventually in South-central Florida where I'm comfortably aging. I let Chinook go around 2001 when I got my first house, but I wish I still had it at times. I've got limited photos as back then I had just a 35mm camera. Thanks so much for taking me on all your journeys including this one...! 🥰

Greetings from the south Okanagan, thanks for the video update. Not to be "that guy" but as a BC Hunter Safety instructor for 35 odd years, the poop in the tent would be Cervid if it's deer. Cervids have antlers which they lose annually, Bovids have horns which grow for the life of the animal. On to rigs, that diesel Land Cruiser is so cool. I love hearing the older diesels rattling as they're warming up. Looking forward to seeing where you go with the clean slate build on the Chinook. Stay well you two.

This is Gonna be Fun!!!! A word of advice..... Build it light !! Insulate it 2 inch foamboard minimum, and leave no metal exposed. The Floor is the worst cold transfer spot. My Callen Camper sits on the truck rails. A steel truck floor has taught me a lot in summer &winter 4 years now. Layer that floor . this will serve you in both extremes.🤙🤙🔧🔨🛠️🔧🔨🛠️🏁🏁Be blessed

😮great Landcruiser find guys 🤘🏻 I agree manual or bust! 😅
@Max-ik9qb3 ай бұрын
By the way you have to crack open the throttle blade to do a acurate comp. test otherwise you're starving the cylinder of air. A cylinder "leak down" test will tell you much more about the health of that 3.4 then a comp test will. What do you mean "heads checked"? Are you pulling them off? My 2002 Tacomas original 3.4 went 375k miles before rod knock got it, heads looked perfect when i pulled em to sale (swapped in a JDM 3.4). If your head gaskets aren't leaking leave damn heads alone! Time spent doing a valve adjustment on the 3.4 will yield a much better sealing and running motor! Loved seeing the new winter beater.

I was wondering how you two were post trip, sounds like you have the blues that are so common after epic adventures. Know it all too well. You folks need to get back on the road sooner than later. And if this is your primary income, yup KZbin is a treadmill that has to be fed daily. Good luck.

Great channel. I watched the build and some of the adventure videos. I'd definitely go with a 4.7 v8 swap. The 3.4 is fine but even underpowered in my all stock 99 4runner. Couldn't imagine it with the large wind drag abd a few thousand more pounds.

Oh the indignation! The Land Cruiser faithfully served owners through the years giving it's body and frame to rust, only to be stolen and abused in it's old age. I know you guys will treat it like an old, abused hound that deserves to live out life with some love and dignity. I believe it is a normal reaction when returning from a trip to tear into modifying your rig to make it even better for round II. No doubt, Sunday will be much more suitable for the road when you're through with the new mods.
