Ruta del sol made us re-route. But in fairness we were in an Airbnb rental car and our overlander was back in BC. 🥾🏔️🇨🇦❤️

Diesel engines usually have more torque, are more robust and diesel is less expensive. Stick to older models bc environmental laws are making them full of sensors and other electronics that break.

Wow, such an amazing trip! By the way, if you don't mind, how much does it cost and what preparation should be done before starting this trip? I wanna go for a trip like this if there is a chance in the future.

The 5L from the Toyota hilux, extremely reliable. Basically a baby 1hz. Can very easily turbo them and upgrade fuel pump to get more power. Might still be slow, however the simplicity and reliability could outweigh its capabilities. Or the 1VD v8 diesel, extremely powerful and most definitely slaps. It’s a very wide engine however, not sure about it’s height tho. Also maybe not as available in Northern America.

can't afford to do anything like this in New Zealand due to the cost of fuel, and in general for parts, being ripped off etc.

I have that exact same folding table for camping. Worked great until after about a year. The push buttons for extending the legs jammed completely. I had to take the plastic caps off, and now I’m using pliers to manipulate the thin spring loaded metal flat bars while at the same time pulling the legs out. A three hand operation. I totally agree on the height. Most tables are way too low. Hope you have better luck with your table.

Why didnt you bin the extra shit while on the road, like the peeler etc., or swap out the drawer handle while on the trip? It sounds like it was an everyday annoyance but you never addressed them and lived with it
