I clicked on this thinking it was Donald Fagen but stayed with it and it turned out to be excellent. Not the easiest of songs but Gene Miller certainly did it justice and the musicians/ singers were spot on. Very well done.

I'm not a big fan of covers but this one's excellent. My favourite Donald Fagen song. The lyrics are straight out of a Humphrey Bogart/Lauren Bacall movie.

I only just stumbled upon this amazing show footage and am utterly floored at how beautifully performed these songs are. My girlfriend is a background vocalist in a Steely Dan tribute band and I’ve sat in a few times to sing lead so I know just how difficult it is to faithfully recreated these tunes. A brilliant cover of this marvellous composition! I have always admired Fagan's skill in creating a whole world with just some simple words: the American, friend of the Batista regime, who stays in Cuba just too long and is surprised by Castro's revolution, which will probably cost him his life.

Love it! You may not know it, but sound reinforcement engineers use this album "The Nightfly" by Donald F.,and other albums, to properly adjust sound systems for maximum performance.

It looks like the intro bass is played by the keyboardist on the right. I don’t see the bass player start playing until just before the vocals begin .

You are correct. On the recording the intro was just played by Bass marimba. The electric bass takes over towards the end of the introduction.
