I loved watching The Goodies back in the 70s. So sad to lose such a great talent this way. RIP Tim.

I can't understand why they weren't big in the US. The perfect cross between Monty Python and Benny Hill.

back them America really had trouble getting Monty Python or British humour in general.

@@amojak As a kid in Texas, I remember a couple of months each of Python, the Goodies and SCTV (plus occasional other fill-in sketch shows) would rotate throughout the year. Loved them all

When I watched this on the new dvd set from Network I remembered the fairies scoffing all the turkey and being too fat to fly. I would have been four years old when I first saw it so that bit obviously stuck in my mind. Why didn't I take THAT lesson to heart, eh?

Which episode is it from?
@chocsal4 жыл бұрын
@@thatgnaralooguy This is the special short film 'The Goodies' Travelling Instant Five-Minute Christmas' that was broadcast as part of 1972's Christmas Night With The Stars. It was included in the Network DVD set.

I think at 4:30 as the turkey is brought a few fairies could come out of nowhere and start chomping away at the leg in front of the kid, then the poor kid could try to swipe one of them away at least but that's when the rest fly in and he would realise he's outnumbered!

@goodiesguy6 жыл бұрын
The Goodies shared the same influences as Benny, all the old silent films. Plus all three of them have stuck up for Benny over the years when people in the UK bash old Benny (which sadly isn't a rare occurance).
