If i understand well, this guitar has a semi-central block, its almost halowbody. How does it sound? I hope it has a good feedback protection because of that thin central block:(

I bought Ibanez AMH90 nearly 3 months ago. Reasonable price/value, with multiple "yes, but...". The guitar is not ready to play out of the box, it definitely requires many setting adjustments. Here the main ones, in my view: Distance from the mics to the strings is huge (easy to fix). Several frets stick out of the neck, which can cause micro-cuts in your skin and a very unpleasant playing experience (not easy to fix). Plastic knobs are the cheapest and most horrible choice that Ibanez could have used (easy to find in Amazon nice looking ones and replace the originals). The 3-points mic selector switch works well, but it is also super cheap and moves loosely (not easy to replace). The original strings are definitely the first thing I decided to change (easy). The tone controls do literally nothing between 10 to 2, and suddenly below 2 they cut all the trebles (replacing tone controls is not a simple work at all). The 3-sound switch controls the neck pickup, but in my view does a tiny difference in sound, which you could use or not. As I said, good price/value if you can deal with the "buts" I listed above, and probably a couple more that are less critical.

I appreciate the distortion-free video, and the fine playing! Has anyone tried 12's on this particular model? I really just can't play on anything lighter than 12's.
@floridaruttles3984 Жыл бұрын
12's should be no problem. I use 12's on my GB10,..... and anything lower than 12's just don't cut it.

@dimitri.safronov32462 жыл бұрын
AS93-VLS hasn't Tri-Sound Neck P.U. and made from maple (AMH90 from linden). Neck is made from different materials too.

Thanks this is a very good review, very helpful. I've got my eye on one, hopefully picking it up tomorrow? I think they come with .010, .013, .017, .030, .042, .052 strings. However, i would like to go a little lighter on the bottom end 010, .013, .017, .026, .036, .046. Do you think this will unsettle the guitar? Cheers
@gingerbeer914 Жыл бұрын
The overall tension will become less. The neck will bow backwards, and that might cause string buzz. Then you loosen the truss rod a little bit, not too much. IMHO, heavy bottom setups could cause neck torques. That's why I'm not in favour of heavy bottom string sets. But perhaps the guys from the factory think that they sound better. They could be right.

You could look for a Bigsby model that doesn't require any drilling into the top, because that would be a waste. I would go hunting for a black Washburn Washington J9 with an OEM Washburn Bigsby. They're also hollow. Because they're practically vintage, you won't write off. As soon as you start drilling into a new guitar, the value decreases considerably more than just because of the fact that it became a used guitar.

Is this Guitar made in China?
@PJohn-gc8xv3 жыл бұрын
May be. Ibanez' affordable lines are regularly made in China.
@fxaarchable3 жыл бұрын
@SRV1 I have a Chinese made AM 153 and it is beautiful, well made. You can't paint China with not caring about quality. Also, have you looked at prices for vintage AM series. Over $1200 for the lower models.
