I would just use the wine bottle without the cement for a vase.
@crystalstigall97782 жыл бұрын
Me too!!! There's so many other cute ideas you could do with the wine bottle, this seems way over complicated for a result that's not that great
@cheekypiper5122 жыл бұрын
I would just drink the wine.

High end? Are you kidding? It's a fussy process for an unattractive outcome.

I totally agree, I, personally don't like the cement it doesn't do anything for the bottle.

Put some stones n pebbles in the bottle before doing the cement thing, for weight balance
@auntissie2 жыл бұрын
That was my thought too.
@toughtimes65962 жыл бұрын
I agree! I would definitely use some glass marbles or stones, and maybe some lights even to add weight to bottom. I can see my cat knocking this over every 10 minutes 🤣
@briannab52962 жыл бұрын
Yes ... and just that one stick stuck in the bottom doesn't look attractive at all.

@crystalstigall97782 жыл бұрын
It would probably look alot better also...

Yes, but the hole is at the top - also the tapered neck. I guess you could possibly drill and sand a wide hole in the base, and then invert it?

If you ever do need to add hot water to normal glass, (not heat safe glass like oven proof or candle vessels) put a spoon in it first, the heat goes to the metal first. But to get labels off glass, I just score the paper outside with a fork, then soak the bottle or jar standing it in warm water
@DeeDiamond29812 жыл бұрын
Ppl do dat to sterilize bottles for yrs
@bloochoob2 жыл бұрын
@@DeeDiamond2981 not boiling water straight into normal glass. Hand hot or very warm, yes, but boiling water breaks normal glass very often. Heat treated glass like what a candle comes in or especially for coffee etc, of course they’ve been treated. Wine bottles would most often crack right across the bottom when boiling water hits it when pouring in

My dad used to have an old frosted beached glass wine bottle nestled in a piece of driftwood which had partially petrified to stone. Obviously the two objects were married together for years and the waves smoothed it over in the loveliest way, making them one permanent piece. You gave me an idea- perhaps there's a way to recreate that look by frosting a bottle, nesting it on a bed of wood maybe even driftwood and adding cement, even painting hues of coral, rust and tan like petrified wood unil it looks sculptural and organic. It sounds complex but you're talented, I know I can't utilize cement that well! By the way, the bottle in this video is beautiful!

I don't think a high end piece would have the USPS label showing on the spackle of the finished piece.

I'm sure the USPS likes them using a free box for an unintended purpose. Petty theft? 😕

I have decorated many wine bottles. Using many methods, I found this to work best. I let the bottle soak in hot soap & water for a few months minutes. I then start pulling as much as I can away from the bottle. But I don’t try very hard. Then I spray WD 40 & let it sit for awhile. That is the easiest way to remove a label. Once in awhile I have a bottle that the glue residue is so stubborn that I also use a little glue be gone. Works great!

@@melissalehman2891 ...How does one know if they'll like the outcome or not, if they don't watch the video? They have to watch it first, before they can say whether or not they like the finished project. That seems pretty simple, too. Watch a video, then form an opinion.

Eucalyptus oil gets of the sticky residue
@tovah2276 Жыл бұрын
If you have an UBER sticky residue type label, use a thin film of peanut butter spread over the residue and leave for 48 hours (you can put cling film over the PB so as to not have it touch anything as well as keep the PB oils and smells inside!) if it is an entire label that is one of THOSE labels, just score it a bunch without scratching the glass depending on craft, and put PB on a bit thicker and let sit with cling wrap for 3-4 days (Check it as much as you want to see if you can get some off a bit every day!) and then it should wash right off with hot water and a scrub with soap!!! Heck of a do NOTHING kind of way to clean off a label. Minimal elbow grease and the cost of a tblsp of PB!!!! WORTH IT!!!

I love the Copper and Turquoise vase. It looked like it came from an Art gallery. And I love the art on the wall where the vase was sitting. One more question, what is your accent. I love it. I made concrete items one summer and want to do it again but I’m waiting for a Craft shed to be build. I saw a little bit of concrete left in a bag on the patio. I may try the wine bottle vase also. This appears to be an excellent method for turning an ordinary wine bottle and some cement into an ordinary wine bottle with some unsightly cement stuck on top of it. The design does have one redeeming quality in that the resulting instability is likely to see it tumbling off the worktop counter at the first opportunity (possibly of it's own volition) thereby putting an end to it's existence. Maybe I'm just not very artistic, but I think I'll just empty the wine bottle and have Amazon deliver a vase.
