Greatly appreciate how you explain and outline that this is I first order gospel issue.

For the first fifty years of my life I was a member of the Lutheran Church (ELCA) and I witnessed how the beginning movement in the '80s to adopt a, Reconciled in Christ, approach gave entree to acceptance of gay Christians. Then came along gay Pastors were okay if they were non-practicing. Fast forward to the second decade of the twenty-first century and having a gay or lesbian pastor is considered perfectly normal. I fled to the Lutheran Church-Wisconsin Synod which still accepts Scripture as inerrant. My next move is to the PCA for what I feel and see as a natural progression to higher learning. God be praised that in 2021, the Revoice Movement was rejected because a foot in the door is no different than leaving it wide open. No doubt the assaults will continue.

Wait, are you trying to deny the reality of natural sexual orientations in favor of religious dogma?
@nicholascripps13783 жыл бұрын
I would like to argue why I don’t think repentance means a change of sexual orientation. Firstly, in my unrepentant state, when I see an attractive man, I would instantly lust and play sexual scenarios in my head. Now, when I see an attractive guy, I take a deep breath, pray to God to deal with the temptation and leave it at that. Is that not repentant in itself? If I understand from what you are saying, the mere fact that I found a man attractive is already sin in itself. Let me put forward another analogy. If a heterosexual man finds a woman who is not his wife attractive, but does not proceed to have lustful thoughts, is he still unrepentant?

I think even the best that we can do still falls short of God's glory and we sin in ways we don't even know. You have picked up on something - repentance is continual. Christians live lives of repentance. We have never "arrived" until we are glorified in heaven.

Side B Christianity does not have one single definition. There are those who say they are Side B Christians who do not practice homosexual behavior and do say that their homosexual desires are not sinful. There are also Side B Christians who do not practice homosexual behavior and who are repentant of their homosexual desires, which is the view of the person in question in the PCA. The GRN does not get to define Side B. There are a variety of views of what Side B is. It's also important to note that Revoice is not a PCA affiliated organization. It's also important to note that the GRN does not have an official affiliation with the PCA.

Rob thanks for your post. The GRN is one of many networks within the PCA that is driven by ordained PCA TE's & RE's. You might find Ligon Duncan's lecture from our 2019 Conference helpful to your understanding of Side B Gay Christianity. kzbin.info/www/bejne/npu9g5mAo7Gqf9U

I wish people would stop this side A, side B nonsense that started with Justin Lee's Gay Christian Network. I was critical of it then with Justin and as I am now. It convolutes the conversation with either yes, the Bible condemns homosexuality or no, it doesn't.

I appreciate the desire here to push back on a culture that is undermining the church, but it just seems like the targeting of Revoice is an unhelpful way of going about it. For example, in this talk the speaker contends that Revoice does not teach about the mortification of the flesh, from Romans 8:13. Can anyone point to any particular statement made by a Revoice teacher to substantiate this claim? I have read several books published by various Revoice teachers that say the opposite, that emphatically emphasize the mortification of the flesh. Unless I am missing something, there appears to be a disconnect here.

It reminds me of Satan trying to create a Baphomet world destroying God creation. It's sad.
