"One thing I've already heard from this community of nones, and dones, and pandemic drop-outs: they want the church to be the body that Paul describes in Ephesians. People are so hungry to be a part of a community of belonging, and meaning, and service, and generosity, and wisdom, and peace, and self-giving love. A community overflowing with God. They don't always see the Church living like that, acting like that. And it's ok because we're human. But we're also more than human. We're the body of Christ. And we live into that identity, not under our own power, not for our own sakes, but by the power, the love, and the blessing of God, holding and growing us into the fullness of God. In Ephesians, we hear that identity fully blessed, and fully expressed." From Sermon preached by the Reverend Stephanie Spellers, Assisting Priest, on the Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost, August 4th, 2024.
