Like Max said, Nobuyuki Hiyama (the voice of Siegfried) was absolutely all over the place in iconic video games during this time, though he never voiced Rock Howard (that was Eiji Takemoto in Garou & CvS2). Sadly, Hiyama stopped voicing Link after Smash Bros. Melee & Joe Higashi after KOF XIII, though he at least did continue to voice Siegfried for all of the SoulCalibur games, including VI. Hiyama even got to voice Ken Masters once, via the home console version of Street Fighter The Movie!

I gotta agree with him, this was the game that made me realize that arcades were doomed when I could get the home version for $50 USD (And it was that price, my copy still has the sticker on it) and it LOOKED better than the arcade, same went for when Marvel vs Capcom came out and Street Fighter III: Double Impact. The one I played against other players was 4, with countless hours of fights with friends, until I became the basement king of the group. I picked 6 up last year, I've played a bit, but my friends have moved on from the series, and online just isn't as fun, since I can only find ranked matches in a reasonable time, which can be too stressful and sweaty.

I played Soul Calibur A LOT in the arcade, so when I found out it was launching with the Dreamcast I knew I had to have it. I traded in a ton of my stuff to get it. When I popped Soul Calibur in and fired it up, my eyes almost came out of their sockets, seeing how much better the graphics were than the arcade and pretty much everything else at the time. The Dreamcast version is still by far the best version that exists to this day. SC1 is still my favorite in the series also.

Soulcalibur is a series that has given so much to so many including myself. Makes it that much more frustrating that it doesn’t get supported by namco now. But it’s a testament to project soul that they accomplish so much with the small budgets they’re given. 🙌🏾💜

My mom used to take me to this farmers market back when i was a kid and we'd usually get my hair cut and pick up groceries but there was this "vintage" candy store in the market there that had 3 arcade games. Pac-man, Tetris and whoa what the hell is this game? Soul Calibur? I played that arcade machine religiously every time i went to that farmers market to the point college kids would constantly comment over my shoulder that I was great at it for being a 6/7 year old kid. One of my first video games ever and certainly the one that gave me the most retroactive dignity lmao. The Legend will never die!

The Dream Cast version of Soul Calibur is one of the greatest fighting games in history. Gotta love Lizardman and his gratuitous cameos! Lol! 🤣

omfg, I altered the intro to make it Lizardman-centric too! So funny! Then again, I'm a trash scaly furry who's a fan of Aeon Calcos lmao Also, Siegfried was fun to play because after knocking people onto the ground, you could curb-stomp their nuts

I have played every main game in the franchise, including SoulEdge, except for SoulCalibur 1, I never got a Dreamcast, it looks like a really good game, overall the SoulCalibur franchise is really good IMO. SoulCalibur 3 being my favorite one in the franchise, my favorite game in PS2, and overall one of my most favorite games ever.

Missed out. Soul calibur 1 is by far the greatest of them and started the series proper. Even though I love soul blade as a kid, soul calibur on Dreamcast was just an upgrade times 100

One of my favorite fighting games. This evolved Soul Blade (Soul Edge): The game modes, the extras, the unlockables, are a treat. The game is the full package. So much content. After so many years, I still regret to this day selling my dreamcast with the game as a kid. :(

I want you people to, in your minds, visualize the dream roster for this game: Nintendo vs SoulCalibur

I've always thought about how interesting a Fire Emblem x Soul Calibur game would be.

I always thought a Soul Calibur vs Legend of Zelda would be hype, have the LoZ cast use lost styles Link would have his Sword and shield Zelda could have a ZWEI like style sc5 Impa could rock the Sword and Chakram sc3 And Sheik could pull of the Bomb and Dagger sc3 and so on

How about Soulcalibur and Mortal Kombat? Soul Kombat would be the crossover name.

Yes, for me, it was seeing Tekken TAG Tournament on PS2 when I realized the Arcade’s days were numbered. I couldn’t believe that a home console could look better than an arcade cabinet!
