An underfunded, understaffed, and underpowered FDA is very dangerous. I've been blowing this horn for over a decade. The FDA needs to be outside of political control. They need more weight to control these companies.

Yea if I haven’t heard of a brand im doing an extensive deep dive and really looking into them. For sure the FDA is a business they take money from big pharma which their supposed to protect us from them but money talks I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Thanks for using your platform to perform this public service and civic engagement! Personally, I used WEN for years without issues because I didn't rely on it to replace shampoo. I used it as a cowash in between shampoos. And honestly my hair was looking great. It wasn't until I started the CGM that I heard bad things and no silicone, etc. However, I do agree that government agencies are supposed to protect us, but too often do not. And it's usually communities of color that end up being most affected. So haircare is no different.

I never got into when I wasn’t at the age to be able to buy my own hair products when the scandal happened and honestly glad I wasn’t able to. And you’re absolutely correct communities of color are most affected by the lack of government enforcement.

@@TheCurlPapi I saw a documentary on the relaxers and cancer causing agents in them just sad how it’s affected so many people and the FDA let it slide. Crazy stuff😵‍💫

I love this. Thank you for the info about the FDA and various brands. Remember the haircare line Rio. It promised straight blowouts for natural hair (no chemicals). My aunt was apart of a lawsuit for those products.

Documents showed cancer has been known since the 1800's (or maybe longer). You used to have to travel the world to study one of these patients. But the fda is about supporting their sponsors. (Pay them enough and they'll approve anything).

I think the fda definitely needs improvement. Until then we should be our best advocates . Research your own products and know thy self . If it's too good to be true it usually is.
