i have to say exactly thats happening in rl too. you have a locking diff that tansfers power over to tire that has contact to the street. if the other tire touches the ground again power distribution changes in an instant. in combination with a steering angle this simply makes you loose control over the car. you basicly hit a slight speedbumb at 150-200kmh in a CURVE. never drove le mans but i think physics is doing its job here

However what I enjoy the most (especially in this race) is that you never really aim for being in the first spot but (as you say at around 11:10) you try to be as quick as possible with the car and you really just try to get a good race. Of course you are out to gain positions, as this is obviously the point of a race, but even if you can't gain that much, or just gain only a few or even loose a position you stay calm or at least your commentary. And that is really great. As someone who struggles with the setup of a car and often struggles to get a good race, your statement just hit me. Only thing I can think of why ppl spin on the curbs, it's like geometry where the car leaning at a point causes the tire to gain traction on the tire and just pulls all the momentum later
@Loctorak2 жыл бұрын
Thats pretty much what happens. The movement of a car is entirely dependent on the 4 contact points its wheels have with the ground at any given point. So if the car is airborne and suddenly has 0 control or traction and the steering or vehicle angle changes, the contact will resume with a force that's offset from the cars current trajectory. Considering theres a period where you may only have that 1 contact point or 2 at max, thats also less supporting grip to stabilise the car so its quite literally the full power of the engine vs the inertia of the car as it comes down, and the engine tends to win that battle in spectacular ways

The corner itself is fine. It's the curbs that you take a gamble with everytime. You must be exceptionally lucky on the death curbs then because they don't discriminate and there really is no "objectively best" way to take them because any way you take them could just shoot you into the wall. So obviously just opt for the racing line if there's a chance the curb will murder you anyway.
@jlack19852 жыл бұрын
@@2K-Tan No, not at all. I'm generally terribly unlucky in all aspects of my life lol. I just know how to handle that chicane. Once you hit the brakes completely let off the gas and you should be able to just barely get into the curbing on the left, and then the right sides, without having the car buck underneath you because you're not actually going over them. A good driving line using the full width of the track makes it a breeze.

iRacer here. Not sure if anyone cares to read but this is actually quite realistic and I'm surprised to see such accuracy in GT. So the car is heavily loaded with downforce and lateral G when you swing left then right, jumping over the curbs. When the car is on the limit of lateral grip, any abrupt forces will cause the tires to slide. At 1:34 you were at full lateral G, and also took more curb than previous times. Lots of reasons why the car would spin here, suspension already loaded and compressed when you hit the curb, floor of the car hitting the curb and downforce being disrupted, full throttle potentially inducing some oversteer... If you look at other occasions where you did not take as much curb or when you did not have as much lateral forces going through there you were fine. This being a console game, if you're on a controller, there's not much you can do to avoid these. However on a proper setup you can try to minimize steering angle when going over the curbs and hold around 50-70% throttle as you jump those curbs. These details are things every race driver has to deal with and what makes racing so awesome.
@Roxst4r172 жыл бұрын
My guess toward the question on the physics of the game and the curbs: it’s a curb, you go over it this causes an upward force reducing traction. As the vehicle lands it’s actually contacting with much more force than if it were flat to begin with. This accounts for the “late” curb reaction as the car settles and suddenly grips harder than expected.

I got a 3 second penalty on a daily race y'day for grazing someone so softly before being absolutely punted at the last corner with nothing doing for the offender. Trialing "my patience" Mountain

I feel like the re-activation of ghosting should be staggered depending on how far away the other car is - so if you're within 30m or something, the ghosting isn't removed for a few extra seconds

That's actually how it's supposed to work, and does most of the time, dunno what happened here though. Prolly a server-side bug

I think main issue here is the right wheels coming into contact with the curb. The curb is like a "c" shape. So near the end of the chicane, the right wheels clip the curb, gaining a lot of friction and upwards momentum, causing the car to swerve right and unsettling the car

Top notch video mate, kept this playing while I grind in GT7 as well. 👍 I especially love the “voodoo magic” part. 😂

The second bump is quite high so I find its best to get wheels either side of it (if poss!) to avoid the oversteer if the offside wheels go over it.

It seems to be the end of the curb to me, if you come off on the wrong angle it throws you off with your rear right just off the track- so the delay occurs when the tire makes contact with the track again…

Nooo.. catching the wheels on the curb like a train track is an Easter egg from Initial-D hahah

Timmy had net-code issues. The game predicted him further over to the right as he started to lose connection due to lag, and when it popped back in, he was mid track but the server had him too far right (aka in the wall). Happens on iRacing all the time due to people lagging.

Timmy, fearing the ghosting beetle, jinked left too hard and into Barry R!!

one of my fav tracks to be honest.. as for the corner yeah it can be tricky if u don't set urself up before going into it ur screwed i always stay close to the right barrier before turning into it.

16:45 - "no-stop risky" - RHs degraded so slow, that 6th/7th lap on EITHER softs or mediums was much more difficult to get through D-Chicane, as your breaking point moved a lot. --- For this race the no-stop strategy with a good-on-tyres car were the banger. I took Toyota FT-1 and set of RHs, qualified 10th and by lap 15 I was 1st, defending (quite easily) from the Beetles which pitted. And then: yes, the chicane. Bumped the 4th wall lightly, and 2 leaders of pitting players' pack went through. By ultimate corner (L16) I was right back at their tails. Shows how much advantage good preparation and tactical analysis give.
