Other than the organic Chinese wines, I wouldn't touch any Chinese wines with a 10 m pole. The place is too polluted. I'll give the organic wine a try though.

+TemplarX2 again, look at the landscape of 'organic' vineyards as shown in this video - zero cover cropping/biodiversity usually required for organic certification.

+Matt Chow But relative to Italian, Napa Valley, or European wines grown in cool climates with crystalline air quality, Chinese wines simply aren't worth the effort. They're "wines" as in fermented grape juice, but can't hold a candle to true wines. Atrocious air pollution is to blame, as the sensitive grape skins are bombarded with toxins that land on the grapes, some of which are absorbed and taint the flavor.

and had to laugh when co-op farmers said the wine was too expensive, and didn't taste good...I'm thinking that at best there's two farmers out of work, at worst punitive response from winery/govt.

Excellent doc what was great to see at the outset was the organic wine movement. As the Chinese wine market expands lets hope more follow the organic path. Education of wine culture is really needed in China in order to properly develop the Chinese palate. Technology in the wine movement will really develop in China. The Chinese people are very interested in wine culture. The quantity of root stock did not surprise me either that they have. If you want to know more check out nutriwine

Interesting that the 'organic' winery's vineyards are sterile, up to and including the actual vineyards and land - no cover cropping between vines & rows, no evidence of supporting ecosystems re birds/small animals. Interview with co-opted farmers (frame ~ 20 min.?) was enlightening - understanding that that particular winery was not organic, but...'we don't have to do anything except what they tell us - when to use insecticides/pesticides...' (paraphrased). Anyone know what China's certification requirements for 'organic' are, relative to EU/US ?

+Lisa German literally doesn't look any different from some I've seen in California. And I don't mean some "shade-tree" vineyard either. In fact in some shots there appeared to be leaf-crops planted down every other row.

Let them want more and more of it. The fact of the matter is that they need to outsource so make your money off of it. They might even have something to offer to the wine trade besides $

sorry, but no. at least for a few decades. it is very hard to trust anything imported from china, especially when that something is produced in a massive scale and is for consumption. also, why do they use a french name for their wine? why the chateau building? it's just ridiculous. they can perfectly show they are proud chinese by building a nice large siheyuan.

China a very good in copying things but I don’t believe that able able to copy a good wine you need 3000 years for that more or less biblical where wine started from in Europe, I suggest you stick to the noodles , wine is an art it’s a lifestyle then again Chinese people do not even trust the Own kind How can Chinese people trust their own wine produces , I don’t think it will happen ,Maybe they can replicate the “last supper.”
