I attended a Peter, Paul and Mary concert in Sydney, Australia in 1964. I waited around afterwards in case I could get a glimpse of my favourite folk group. Peter came out and was mingling with fans so I was able to get his autograph, but because fans were surrounding him, they didn’t notice Mary sneak out and quickly move toward a waiting taxi. I rushed over to her and asked for her autograph. She declined saying she had a bad cold and just wanted to get back to her hotel. I was devastated and it must have shown on my face because she hesitated and then bent down and kissed me on my left cheek. I was gobsmacked . . . Mary Travers kissed my cheek . . . I was on cloud nine. Here I was, an impressionable 13 year old getting something better than an autograph . . . a kiss from Mary Travers. I’m decades older than I was then, but I’ve never forgotten that treasured experience. I also never imagined then, that I’d hear my grandchildren singing Peter, Paul and Mary songs . . . another wonderful experience.

Back in 1998, I also remember going to my regular hair salon in Bethel, CT and I was getting my hair cut and then this very large woman (Mary was not petite in any sense of the word… she stood about 5’10”) sat down in the next station. Signature long straight blonde hair with bangs. It was Mary. She wasn’t the friendliest of people. I smiled at her and she like waved me away. Anyways, I felt very sad when she passed away. RIP Mary.

When I was young, I taped all of PP&M's songs so that I could work up fourth harmonies to become Peter, Paul, Mary and Bill, a fantasy and, as with men boys my age, an imagined love affair with Mary. 20 years later as an art gallery director in Wales I rented a car and picked up Mary from a town in the Welsh valleys where she's been performing as a solo act (a club in which Tom Jones also used to perform) and drove her to London. Her one stipulation was that we not sing (really the thing I most wanted us to do together, sigh). In London, we visited the Tate Gallery to see some art. As I was looking at one painting and she another on a different wall, she drifted closer to me until she rested her chin on my head and we stood there pressed together looking at separate paintings for a long time. Until that moment I hadn't realized how tall she was (or how to let go of our not being able to sing together). Thank you for showing her grave.

My deceased husband knew that song Puff the Magic Dragon. He used to imitate that song and laugh! Emphasis on "Puff". 😆 Thanks for the video, Lamont!

I brought my kids up to Puff the Magic Dragon when they were born in the 2000's and everytime they here PP&M, they listen. To this day, I seek out PP&M on YT to hear beautiful music. What an awesome time it was not only able to witness myself but also pass on to my kids. Hopefully they will remember and pass Mary's wonderful music on to their kids. May she rest in peace after having brought lifetimes full of memories to millions of people!

Here in Australia they toured in Dec 97. I was mid 20s and although not their biggest fan I still realised what legends they had been so went to see them on a very warm summer night. It was only a few months after John Denver's death so it was poignant to hear LOAJP. Pretty sure they didn't tour again so I am so glad I got to see them live just once and her voice was still very good even at 61.

He is a PERV. Peter (pervert) hit on my old college roommate back in the 80’s. I believe they had several trysts when she traveled to NY. He was old enough to be her grandfather, even back then. YUCK!!

Hey, Lamont, you have done it again. Another beautiful tribute video & this time to a lady whose voice resonates in my mind often after listening to her music alongside Peter & Paul. That intro was on point my brother. I thank you for the labor of love that you do & share with us all. I love "Leaving on a jet plane" by the great late, John Denver. Beautiful music from a bygone era. 🙏🏼

I went to see Peter Paul and Mary at Ravinia Park outside Chicago in 1990. Loved them. I had no idea about Peter Yarrow past. So sad when Mary died. She really was a rest singer and a spokesperson for a generation.
