For a wooden rollercoaster designer, 'Thou shall not steel' is such a clever wordplay.

TGG are a bunch of cool engineers. I got to meet TGG at a private meetup at Holiday World and got a backstage tour of Voyage. That team is awesome.

I love Tonnerre 2 Zeus really excellent wooden coaster has a few rough patches on the old CCI parts but still excellent with excellent themeing and wild ride, Lucky for us here in the UK our very own Megafobia is getting a retrack by the gravity group which is cool as Megafobia is the best wooden coaster in the UK

Yeah, about that.. All the track here is Gravity Group

This coaster was already in my top 10 in it's orignal form. It was actually my first large scale coaster, and also the one that tought me airtime. Besides this and Toutatis, Parc Astérix and France are getting blessed these years, even though I really criticize how the park chose to operate the backwards seats !

Owh that looks good! Zeus is my favorite wooden rolleroaster. My last ride was 2 years ago and I'll admit it got a bit rough but you can't imagine the speed this woody has. The first drop is insane! It's all I love about the classic woodies, and no RMC's are great but they ain't woodies :)

Gravity Group just retracked wildcat at Lake Compounce, I’m hoping it’s a better ride now. The coaster has been unenjoyable for many years.

So glad they went to GG instead of RMC to be honesty, Its good to see Gravity Group do these things and catch onto this stuff, I hope to see this with more older wooden coasters.

Who's here after Oakwood announced they were putting this track on Megafobia?
@EricGarringer Жыл бұрын
Sounds and looks great. However, I wonder how this track will withstand the test of time. It’s always been said the tracks need to give, towers need to sway, etc. because if it’s stiff and rigid, it could snap and break. I’m no engineer though.

Im curious what the darker wood is in that laminate.
@maxhagenauer24 Жыл бұрын
I really hope this means they can do coasters more intense and with stronger positive Gs if they made the wood that much stronger. Also less maintenance and retracking.

I think it at least opens up the possibility of new wood coasters that produce similar forces to intamin prefabs

Maybe they need to take a look at Boulder Dash. RMC'ing it would be kind of a crime but the last retracking didn't take, it seems to me.

Would you guys say Gravity Group is better than RMC because there rides keep the classic feel of what a wooden coaster does, whereas RMC coasters are completely different (Please note I do love RMC's but this is merely an observation)
@JodyR87 Жыл бұрын
two different things. I never like comparing wood manufacturers to steel manufacturers.
@Spike-sk7ql Жыл бұрын
You can't really compare them unless ONLY comparing RMCs topper track coasters.

Unfortunately I could not enjoy T2Z at all because of the really painful restraints. They pinched down so hard on my hip bones I could not focus on anything except that. :(
@ZoniesCoasters Жыл бұрын
Next time just sit a little bit further forward in the station so you don't get stapled. Any restraint can hurt if pushed into you hard enough but usually timberliner lapbars don't come down further during the ride

@askjeevescosby2928 Жыл бұрын
Doesn't a stiffer track mean a rougher ride. Like when you go down a hill the wood flexes taking stress off the train now it won't flex at all pushing all that force Into the structure and the train the track won't absorb any of it.
@ZoniesCoasters Жыл бұрын
No. Because with track that's not stuff it will bow between the supports and every time you go past a bent in the structure you get several small peaks and valleys causing roughness. With the stiffer track it doesn't bend between the bents so you don't have that

Gravity Group/Kraft is awesome and underrated. Until the gen 2.0 it's my opinion there timberline trains are more comfortable than even millennium flyers, let alone rmc or pre fab intamin trains (latter also on rcaas) the last of which is meh In my opinion even PTC's are better xd
@VECTOR_Coasters Жыл бұрын
great video as always! i do have one question and that is why make the track stiffer? didnt we learn from ghost rider that the stiffer the track the quicker it gets rough? unless im not understanding something
@IceCreamIslander Жыл бұрын
I was under the impression that Ghostrider's roughness was due to a stiff support structure, not track
@VECTOR_Coasters Жыл бұрын
@@IceCreamIslander they said that this was making the structure more rigid unless im forgetting something
@ZoniesCoasters Жыл бұрын
There are a LOT of variables that go in to designing structures. In this specific case stiff track is better
@VECTOR_Coasters Жыл бұрын
@@ZoniesCoasters why?
@ZoniesCoasters Жыл бұрын
@@VECTOR_Coasters it was explained in the video. The stiffer track doesn't bow between the bents In moments of positive Gs so you won't have those bumps every time you go over a ledger
