Here''s a little Waco trivia. In his autobiography, Willie Nelson said he was playing Dominoes in downtown Waco when the tornado hit.

Amazing Breck! You had a good eye for the repair on the Dr Pepper museum. Amazing how the scar can still be seen thru Waco after all these years. I live in Indiana, and we have had tornados leave there mark thru several areas - just not as huge as the Waco. Thanks for sharing.

Again, Breck, a wonderful vlog. Isn't it just incredible that such damage could reek such havoc in one place, but next to the aforementioned, there are tall buildings that still remained standing. Incredible. We in Perth have learnt of the unfortunate tragedy that Florida has experienced with the collapse of the block of apartments. Again, I noticed such havoc, yet only get away from the collapse are unaffected cars in the car park. So, so tragic.

You are correct; the lighter area on the Dr. Pepper museum's wall is repaired damage from the tornado. Similar repairs exist on the Metro Tower in Lubbock. Fun fact: Lubbock was also hit by an F5 on May 11th, but a different year. Pretty wild! Thanks for the video; I had no idea Waco had such beautiful monuments for their tornado victims!

Hey! When my husband and I was there in Waco on vacation a couple weeks ago, we went on a 2.5 hour tour with a group call Waco Tours. It’s a little expensive, but well worth it. It gives you town history and would really give you vlog ideas for the area!!! I fell in love with Waco while we were there. It’s well worth the tour!

I am also a freak about weather. It's interesting that you did this vlog today. I have spent all day here watching videos on tornadoes here on KZbin. I enjoyed your vlog very much. Today I did run across the waco tornado of 53 earlier today. If anyone is interested there are a few videos here on youtube from some of the actual survivors. By the time I watched yours I could pick out the buildings. Well, done from one weather freak to another....LOL.

If they lost 100 people , everyone in the town must have known someone who was killed. Must have been terrible days of funerals and many survivors still in hospital s injured. Why don't they build storm cellars there ? I think I might buy one of those pods & dig a hole in the back yard to get in until the storm has blown threw town. Very interesting history. I must have my husband watch this ,he will love seeing the repair of the brick on the wall. Thanks Breck for always showing us amazing things!

I live just a little north of Xenia Ohio. They had a massive tornado in 1974 that was about the same strength as the Waco one. Wiped out a big chunk of that town. The high school and the basketball arena and quite a few other schools. Lots of houses and stores too. My late sister worked in the Emergency Room at the Xenia hospital. They had her out doing Squad runs with the Emergency squads. That was a very scary night. They kept posting tornado warnings all evening and the sky was a freaky, green color. You pretty much figured that you were not going to survive the night. But we did. The weather turned bitterly cold after that. The National Guard took up residence in a damaged furniture store. The store caught on fire and a couple of the guardsmen were killed, if I remember correctly. I have been petrified of tornadoes ever since.

Hi Breck, what a lovely memorial. Those other buildings were so lucky to survive considering how near they were. In fact any buildings were lucky to survive with a tornado that strong. Bytheway, how's Flash. Nice vlog Breck.

Welcome to Texas Breck...you are in Tornado country I live close to Joplin MO which had one the worst tornadoes in US history in 2011. I'm amazed in the 1950s they would even fix an old building. In the 1950s anything old was usually bulldozed

Wow! Wow! Wow! Homerun Breck. I absolutely loved this vlog. Awesome subject matter, research, camera work, narration, and you even found a couple more things to showcase, such as the cornerstone marker, the Dr. Pepper Museum damage, the silos, and the container construction. I think you've definately found your mark Breck, and I appreciate all your effort with the new vlog. Will you be developing any Patreon tiers with member only goodies, i.e. merch, post cards, etc., at some point? I'd really like to subscribe and contribute in this regard. Great vlog. I think it's so nice that you care enough about your new home to delve into its history. Small town living is so great, so community oriented. I live in fear every Spring in Ohio, worrying about tornadoes. The last batch of tornado warnings really shook me up as I was at work and couldn't leave to check on my family at home, or to help my daughter get my granddaughter and all the critters to the basement. I really do need to get a warning radio like yours. What is the name of it again? And where did you get it?

This event deeply scarred the people that were alive here during that time and have grown up here ever since. It is ingrained in every young person who's now heard the story from grandparents and great-grandparents. My father watched this tornado go down his street. The neighbors across the street had brought home a brand new 1953 Buick. They parked it under a little lean-to type awning they had built and he went over and warned them that some severe weather was coming and help them put a couple of heavy quilt over the vehicle and then weight it down with rocks and bricks. After the tornado come down the street the house, people, and the carport were never seen again not so much as a scratch was left on that 1953 Buick. All types of weird things like that happened from a train that was fully loaded being picked up and set down off the train tracks 20ft to one side two chickens losing every single feather they had. Father told me of telephone poles that look like porcupines or tall cactus is because they would completely be covered with hay and straw sticking out of them like a gigantic tall cactus on one side and nothing on the other or they found chicken eggs with holes shot completely through them by debris but not cracked at all.

Thank you for sharing your memories of this event. I run into people all the time who remember the tornado and it's aftermath. Next month is the 70th anniversary of the tornado. I'm planning to do a vlog on the R.T. Dennis building and that whole section of the street that was destroyed by the tornado.

@@EscapingTheMouse I spoke to some of the old-timers wives who were up in the alico building when the tornado hit and then the upper floors that building was swaying back and forth 20ft in each direction. They will talk about how the filing cabinets and the desk with slide from wall to wall to wall back and forth and they thought the building was just going to break and fall over.

Great vlog, living in the midwest I've been through some horrific tornadoes myself. On a side note, I don't think you should feel like you have to put out a video every day just because that's what Jordan does. As you figure out where you want to go with your channel and settle into your everyday life once you find a job if filming every day doesn't work for you don't do it. People will watch what ever you put out when ever you put it out, even if that's only once or twice a week.
