As little Orlandus Wilson (later leader of the Golden Gate Quartet) at the age of round 10 years grasped every possible moment to go and see the young Mills Brothers when they performed in Wilson's neighborhood, it does not surprise the young Golden Gate Quartet in 1934 took the Mills Brothers as their great idols. The young GGQ also started singing as well as imitating instruments with their voices in the style of the Mills Brothers, before wowrking out later their unique style of singing Gospels and Negro Spirituals.

I love the early ones when their brother, the guitarist to the right was still alive. That was the early 30s and he died far too soon.

The hair stood up on the back of my neck when Herb stepped up to the mic to sing lead. That is the first and only time I’ve seen him step up and I’m 65. My father was a big fan and we had several of their albums so I grew up listening to these amazing men.

6:09 - 7:46 What an absolutely beautiful scene, to see the brothers back, but this time, with dad performing, and the very talented base guitarist (that interview gig must have been impossible to pass). Thank you so much for this absolute gem, Bruno.

Gia, I dont think the Ted Mills in Cornelius was Ted Wizard Mills. That Ted Mills was a Broadway producer and died in 2003. I'm pretty sure Ted Mills of Blue Magic hailed from Philly and was born around 1952. He was performing up until 2019. 2016 he had reunited with Keith and Wendell and toured .going to Africa to perform.

So Bruno, what happened to some parts of the audio on this documentary? Was that carelessness on your part in the reproduction or was that flawed in the original copy? How about at 11:15 where you here the telephone ringing?!!! Also we’re the periods of distortion. What’s up with that?
