To save using string to tie the bag you can tie a knot providing you have long enough bag or wrap bag around stalk and put a nail through bag into stalk. To bring tree down slowly cut an x on front of tree ( not to deep) and slowly pull bunch down to the ground. The way you cut it came down hard and their probably was bruising at stem of bananas but thankfully it's not getting sold commercially so all is ok. I worked 11 years on a banana farm while their is farmers who have been working on banana farms 40+ years. Make sure their are no commercial growers near you as your tree can get air born disease and can spread to other farms.
