I just hiked the Straight Creek/W Fk Fish Creek loop, but it was smokey and my pics are not one-tenth as beautiful as yours! Great area to explore, thanks for the awesome vid.

Thanks! The Great Burn is one of my favorite places in the world. I got lucky last year with the clear sky's. I hope you are making a video of your hike. I enjoy watching your videos. I got the next 5 weeks off, so I'm about to start hitting the trails. Do you have any advice on a good interdiction to the Bob without crowds? I see you hike ther alot. Hike on!

@@pilowespo Thanks! Working on that vid now and hope to get it out this weekend. It turned into a sufferfest because I went down an unmaintained trail. Re: the Bob, the busiest trailheads are Holland Lake in the west, Benchmark in the south, and Meadow Creek in the north. Less busy but still quite active are N Fk Blackfoot and Indian Meadows (south), Gibson Res (east), and of course, Jewel Basin in the northwest is a parking lot with day hikers. Other than those, you're pretty good, especially once you get a few miles in; great exception being the route from Benchmark to the Chinese Wall. Let me know if you're wanting more specific questions answered, happy to help!

I intended on doing this route this year! My partner for the trip had hurt his knees so we just went to Fish Lake instead. Of what I have hiked in the great burn, that section between Goose Lake and Fish Lake is some of my favorite! You're right though, there is nothing easy about that stretch of trail! Did the trail up to Fish Lake just become non-motorized this year? I don't think there were any restrictions when we went up there, and we did hear some ATV's at the lake. Fantastic route! I hope to do this in the future!

It's been closed all year to ATV's, apparently. They probably didn't have the signs up when you were there, and I'm sure it didn't go over well with the ATV crowd. I think they are starting the groundwork to finally make the The Great Burn a Wilderness. That section of the Stateline is the most enjoyable stretch of trail I have ever hiked. Would not want to be stuck in a storm up there. There is nowhere to hide. This was by far my favorite video to make. Thanks for watching! Hike on!
