I will tell you what the Prophet said. The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: One day the Bedouins who live in the desert will build tall towers, and this is my duty. Especially as Bill Nye has made videos discussing very important issues, such as racism, poverty, and even addressing topics in the LGBTQ+ community. I can agree that people who save lives and feed the poor are also legends. But let us not also forget that these scientists have battled climate change deniers, and brought lots of mainstream media to the topic of climate change, is this not saving the lives of everyone's descendants eventually?

@@DaBeav420 I very much miss Carl Sagan as well, and to celebrate his poise, aplomb and dignity I'd like to point out that his awesome, revelation of "we are star stuff" was actually first given solid evidence by Fred Hoyle who while otherwise an incredibly brilliant scientist was so blindly driven by not only science but the distraction of fighting religion, that he coined the pejorative "Big Bang" and doggedly held on to Steady State until he dies around ~1980. By fighting Religion we lend it importance it no longer earns and hasn't earned for over a century. It had it's time but that time is at an end and left to itself will simply "die on the vine" lending further evidence to "survival of the fittest". Fighting it especially with any degree of passion only prolongs it's continued existence. If Dawkens,, Krauss et al are the MalolmX and Huey of the movement, Carl was the Martin Luther King, Jr a true gentleman and scholar as well as the premier ambassador for Science. Thankfully Neil carries himself with similar dignity even if he does rather enjoy being a Rock Star.

Myeah not really though, Hitchens wrote a lot more about politics than he ever did science, he often argued religion from precisely a political standpoint, so like him or not, I don't think he would have fit nor had much to say (well assuming he was alive to say it at the time of this meeting). Jesus' 'documentation' is so far distorted from what could even be possible, just because some primitive superstitious Palestinians had to massage his story into everything the Jews expected of a 'messiah' from their "Holey" text. He was a real person. This much is obvious because of how many lies had to be invented to make his story coherent with the 'prophets' writings. (I'm looking at you, anonymous authors of Matthew and Luke). If he was entirely myth, Jesus of Nazareth would have a much less convoluted story. What we have in the Bible is worse: a bunch of legend inflating an eccentric preacher from 2000 years ago.

Also, I should be more careful of my use of the word 'legend'. The Gospels are full of stories that were meaningful and symbolic to their respective audiences, but could not possibly have happened. The release of Yeshua Bar-Abbas (literally meaning Jesus, Son of the Father, but became Barabbas in later manuscripts, and modern Bibles) at Jesus' trial could not possibly have happened. Everything we know about Pilate and Roman law contradicts the historicity of this story. The release of Barabbas is symbolic of the Yom Kippur scapegoating ritual. The Clearing of the Temple is another impossible story. The temple yard was 12 acres, and it had an armed guard on duty, authorized to kill anybody causing a disturbance. We even have a piece of the sign nowadays that hung at the entrance, saying that anybody disturbing the peace would forfeit their life. I could go on for several paragraphs, but my point is, all these stories began with a deliberate intent in the early church to convey a meaning, but few had any bearing on reality. This is why I am no longer a Christian
