Did you really need to make this video a mini-series? 45 min long really?
@rozchristopherson648 Жыл бұрын
If you look closely, you can tell the side bars are not secured in the slots but just pulled down to the lower position. You must secure the side bars into the slots. Also, you are watching the cage when it traps the animal. put a blanket or towel over the cage. Not being able to see its surroundings will calm the animal down

Did you catch the cat after it escaped? Nice video of what a cat will do after getting caught in the trap. I was expecting the trigger to release earlier than it did. If you watch the video you see there is a gap under the trap door and this will make it easier for a critter to escape..I have had them bend the trap door and get out or the locking bar will get knocked out of the stop and they get out. I have reinforced all my the trap doors and make sure they seal well and the locking bar will catch the stop well to make sure the critter stays in the trap once it is sprung. Nice video thanks for posting it.

@3crazycatbroscatsonig826 жыл бұрын
I thought the same thing. In my experience, ferals flip out waaaay more. Also, those that manage to escape practically fly away! This one just stuck around unruffled as if nothing happened. I'd say if it doesn't have a "permanent home," it's at least a neighbourhood cat that's probably friendly with the locals.
@johnknoefler6 жыл бұрын
It's feral. I've caught dozens of cats. Only feral cats get this pissed off when the are trapped. Domestic cats are much harder to catch as they aren't that interested in food. But if you do catch them they are quite docile.
@johnknoefler6 жыл бұрын
I'll buy that. But it's still feral. Look how hungry he is. We've a feral cat around here that I have tried to catch for a year. He won't take bait because people feed him and he is super suspicious.

Traps should not be unsupervised. Cats can get very hurt in traps. When trapping, you should be present (but where the cats can't really see you). If you actually would have been present like you are supposed to, you could have immediately covered the trap with a towel and the cat would have calmed down.
@yuma3105 жыл бұрын
The previous time I caught a cat it kept whining under the towel so I ended up releasing it. I didn't want to listen to that all night again so I placed the trap further away from where I slept this time.

@enticerET3405 жыл бұрын
Im not sure this trap is defective although there may be a bit of a design flaw. We cant see the what the cat is doing on the other side of the trap but I have had a number of racoons and cats be able to get a paw, toe, or claw through the wire mesh just far enough to grab the bottom of the locking bar and pull it till it releases. Animals can be pretty clever and resourceful especially if their life may depend on it.

these cages are death traps. I bought them to have a few stray cats neutered. Almost killed a cute baby cat. She is healthy fortunately but you have to use a drop trap cage and then transfer the cat to these death trap cages only for transportation. Drop traps do not hurt the cats.

Humans would react like that to if it happens fast, notice how the cat does not agree with this situation, struggles to get out, relaxes for a min, eats until the food is gone, then fights to get out again. The cat will stop trying to get out of the cage if it makes hundreds of failed attempts to get out, especially if there are some comforts to accommodate it, like if the cage were bigger and had plenty of food and condiments inside, maybe a pillow to lay on too. It works on humans!
