Just 2 days before the Aussies were set to evacuate (17th of December, 1915) a game of cricket was played at Shell Green on the Gallipoli peninsula. The game was played to send a message to the Turks, "that all was well" within the Australian camp. A photo was taken of that game in 1915, and in 2001, the then Australian Captain (Steve Waugh) and his team re-created that famous photo.
Steve Waugh and Ricky Ponting reflect on that experience, and along with Australia's current cricket captain Michael Clarke, they share some of their views on what the 'ANZAC Spirit' means to them.
