We had family members in WWII,WWI, and the Boer War. We will never forget either Warren, when you hear your Dad having a nightmare many times like I did, care for a Dad with dementia talking about the bombing missions when in the RAF like my husband did and comforting him when he is upset for the friends who never came back from missions, you know the truth about the horrors of war and what the people went through. I pray that their courage is never forgotten. God bless you, Colleen and all those in the forces past and present. LEST WE FORGET.

Love it! My family on both sides migrated to Australia but I was born here so I’m forever an Australian! But without courage of all the brave souls who served in the military forces we wouldn’t be where we are today, getting up for the dawn service is such a small thing to do to show respect to all the service men and women on Anzac Day, but it means so much to those being remembered. Thanks Warren and Colleen for your service, let me know when you’re in WA next and I’d love to hear some of your stories over a cold beer 🍻

My grandfather was a U.S. waist gunner in a B17 my grand mother a nurse / code breaker in the WAC , they met over seas and were the first US couple married over seas, made the papers and had to get the General's permission. they got to borrow the General's jeep for their honey moon ( Eisenhower ) .....big fish story I know, but absolutely true. I have the clippings, she was actually his secretary at this point. my grandfather served two full air tours, then the airlift . I was raised on the same property as them my whole childhood. went to a lot of air shows. got to hear a lot of great stories. Thank you Both for all you do , and all you have done, and your family. and all those who have served.

A great Uncle of mine saw service on Nouvelle Caledonie. Another was in the Navy. Both men were at Pearl Harbor on the 7th. Another great Uncle drove a truck in SoCal. Grandpa fought the War from the top of a phone pole in Europe & Africa. A Great-Grandfather served a hitch before the Great War, and was not called up. Another ancestor circumnavigated the globe with the Great White Fleet 1907-9. My father & uncle were aviation machinists on the Enterprise in the Vietnam era. That's how I came to be. Another ancestor was wounded at Malvern Hill in the Civil War. I set out to join up in 2001 and the recruiter punched in my number, then said "No, go away". A "Great Great" ancestor "Rode with Garibaldi", don't know more.

Gday Warren I served in the RAAF for 6 years which wasn't a long time but saw tours in both the Iraq and Afghanistan. I too am proud of my family's military history. My Great Grandfather was 3rd Signal Troop, 3rd Light Horse Brigade and went ashore in Gallipoli in May 1915. My grandfather was 2/3 Commando Squadron and served in New Guinea and Borneo. One of the reasons I found you was through my passion in finding military aircraft wrecks of which I have visited several throughout Victoria. Keep up the good work and I will be out marching proudly on Monday.

Btw, I'm a rose grower and came across a reference to the Remembrance Rose which was grown by Alister Clark, a beautiful thing, Blood Red with Shot Silk glitters on the inside of the petal. Grown at Labaun, the Pacific, and at Gallipoli, but now it appears, no more as it either died out or was reveged by animals.

I can't say I have any military service in my family except for my wife's mums second husband who served in the Pacific. But I worked with 2 returned servicemen when I did my apprenticeship, great blokes, who like your rellies spoke little of the unspeakable horrors of face to face combat. We owe a great deal to our war diggers and vets who have allowed us to live in the peace we do. I just wish those people who protest against Anzac day, fighting for freedom, could understand a little of the patriotic pride servicemen and women feel for tgeir country and chuck out this Woke garbage we are overcome with today. And like you, LEST WE FORGET.
