Young people should pray for 10% rates. Boomers bought with very high rates but low prices and THAT is how you win.

I am in the Austin metro area and trying to sell. I am running into buyers that have unrealistic expectations-especially around rates. The days of 2% rates are over. I believe it was an anomaly but inexperienced buyers seem to be insistent that they will not buy unless they have that rate. And they expect the seller to buy down the rate for them. They forget that sellers also need to buy another house. It is disheartening.

@@LeslieG-h9v I’m also trying to sell a house. I’m finding first time home buyers are being extremely picky and are looking for high end homes for a starter home and are not wanting to compromise.

It sounds like you're running into affordability issues with the buyers - which is happening across the country. Add that Austin has been in the news and buyers are misinformed. And if they're agents are what I call '80%' and are not educating their buyers, that causes frustrations with home sellers. Your feelings are valid! Hopefully you're working with a '20%' agent that will help you find the right buyer and not give the house away. Thanks for sharing!

Unfortunately this is a wide spread challenge across the country - buyer expectations need to be adjusted.

The house market messed up because the prices of houses hit the roof interest rate hit the roof property taxes that we should never pay hit the roof underpaid jobs How can any America for the house now

I think the job stats are off, and I want to know how they are counting jobs. Is it based off full time, gig based, part time, etc. Because, all the people I know are getting laid off from their employers to give a stronger number when it comes to their reports each quarter

How many years of experience does an agent need to be a 20% agent. Obviously without sussing out IQ, etc

It really depends on their commitment and dedication to their business. Ideally I like to see at least 10+ years. However, that's just ONE metric - there are several other areas that make up a '20%' agent. jensylvester.com/realtor-referral
