Video Introduction:
In 2006, Puma was the last to enter the Indian market and began with a modest revenue of just ₹22 crore in 2006. and during the same time, Nike was at 99cr adidas was at 186 and Reebok was a giant with 354cr in revenue.
But you know what? Fast forward to 2020. In the next 13 years, the Big Cat has raced way ahead of its Giant competitors! As of 2020,While Reebok was at 407cr, adidas was 1250cr, nike was at 831 cr whereas Puma was at insane mark of 1413cr in revenue! And not just that puma has also been consistently profitable over the years in India. So the question is how did Puma beat the likes of Adidas, Nike and Reebok?

Adidas and Puma have better online shopping websites than Nike in India. The user experience and discounts provided online are better than offline stores. This is another important factor which led to customer base shift.

I going to share my experience from Adidas. I just brought a pair of Sneakers in March. But in Oct I noticed that the leather was cracking. They only gave 3 months in warranty and I am never going to shop from them onwards whereas Nike gave 1 year. And the thing that made me laugh was that all brands give atleast 6 months and they being one of the top shoes manufacturers just gave 3 months and also leather was not upto the mark. From on Nike is best for me regardless if they don't have nice website. Quality matters more than comfort.

The problem with nike is that all those looks same ,and un attractive ,you can wear it just cuz its nike ,but in case of puma these there are tones of designs in affordable price ,where as if you filter the price to 5000 to nike you get shitty ones ,I have a X ray which cost just 4k and when ever you wear it you get people to look at it and complement it for just 4k you get those bonus

@@piyushshukla3812 Once I was interested in brands like Puma, Reebok, Nike & Adidas. I liked Nike the most & still like it. But in college times what I could afford was only Puma. Used Puma thrice. Then became a bit more able & started using Adidas. But my experience changed when I used Decathlon's Kalenji sports shoes. In a price range of 3K Decathlon's Kalenji sports shoes offer shoes(trail running shoes) that Puma offers in price range of 8K and nike offers in 11K. And with age and experience, people's choices change. To show off Nike logo, I can use a Nike shoe now but when it comes to usability like running, I feel Asics shoes give the most comfortable experience to my legs for less bucks. Isn't it the reason why Xiaomi is so successful in India? When OnePlus gave most values for its bucks, it was selling like hot cakes but now its sales has declined.

Good analysis. Still fell that single major factor in PUMA's growth in Indian market is price competitiveness. Personally I am a big fan of NIKE as far as footwear goes, the quality is far superior. Fair play to PUMA, but feels like its more the case of NIKE not wanting to lose it's brand identity, which might actually help them in long run. Like someone mentioned there's nothing premium about PUMA.

The Quality of PUMA at price range of under 3K is far superior than Adidas and Nike doesn't even have shoes under 3K. No wonder it's leading.

This is similar to what we have seen in the indian automobile market...Suzuki at the lower end, the German biggies on the higher end with Koreans in the middle (yes excluding the uber/super cars)....

Puma is always focussing the community. You can always see how apple, one plus and many other brands suceeded with the help of the community. Craftsmanship can be derived from community at free of cost. Focus on community and create products that inspire them.

2-3 years ago Nike shifted nearly all of its Indian operations to Singapore from Bangalore. Maybe it was because sales were down or maybe nowadays sales are down because of it.

Let alone the content, I LOVE the choice of topics you pick for case studies. However, I personally do not prefer Puma over Adidas for multiple reasons: a) Puma's lowest priced items are of poor quality (Talking from a personal experience) than of Adidas' hence could not buy my trust even for expensive products b) Their placement of logo on "SASTA" items is too 'in your face'. I had no idea the brand is performing so well. INSIGHTFUL
