I play the French horn and it's weird how every time I play the solo I thought it needed work. Turns out it did I liked the sound of the horn there and the trombone part was actually heard for once. Where the hell was the trumpets placed

AwesomeASMG 101 you're welcome! I also highly recommend SmartMusic for practice sessions. In case you haven't heard of it, it gives you a ton of options, genres, and even choral and orchestral pieces. All of Frank Ticheli's selections are on there from the recent update.The Great Locomotive Chase is on there, cuz I practiced it a bunch. You can use a metronome, or not, or have the computer play your part along with you. A lot of warm-ups and multiple-tongue exercises are there. Look it up, talk to your BD. You never know; SmartMusic coming from musical stranger may be the future cause of a better band! All the schools in my area use it, last I checked. If you have any other questions, comment on other videos, and I'll try to get back to you.

Bro I’m in middle school (now 8th) and we had to learn this whole song in a month to preform infront of the school, I was the loudest trombone (out of 3 girls) so I had to carry measures 64 and 123 (I think I don’t have the music anymore) and it sucked. But this was cool to watch even tho it’s sight reading

@perpgroove49967 жыл бұрын
The glissando shouldn't be articulated and could be brought out more, the trombone "solo" could be a little cleaner, but pretty good for sight reading.
@snuklens7 жыл бұрын
why are your notes lower?
@maizen13357 жыл бұрын
Snuklens0 He is playing a trombone, which is built to play lower notes. Or since he is sight reading the piece for the first time, he could be playing the notes an octave lower to make it easier.
@snuklens7 жыл бұрын
Supersage 171 what I meant is why he was playing lower notes than my version, but it was because the orchestra version has higher notes for first trombone.

I have two problems. You sound ridiculously flat, and you must be playing an octave lower. All other problems can be excused, with you saying it was a sightread.
@danielobrien77386 жыл бұрын
PartyPlace 15 I was actually playing the correct octave. What you hear is what’s on the page. I probably was flat, because high school trombones in general don’t know how to maintain pitch that well while sight reading
@shayna42055 жыл бұрын

I play tbone too and as constructive criticism it sounds like your instrument is out of tune and it wouldn’t hurt to practice not splatting fortissimo notes. End it wouldn’t hurt to practice not making a gross tone with louder notes or softer nets need to work on a happy medium with good air support and embouchure.

Adam Genez I tried that a month ago when we played Rolling Thunder, and after messing around with different stand angles, it was clear that I can only hear myself playing, and not the rest of the band. That's why I did lap cam. Worst case scenario, I record from my pocket.

My high school band director just gave this to us today for the concert we have in less than 2 weeks, we have 7 trumpets(me included) and only 2 low brass instruments which are trombones. Are band sounds very unbalanced.
@danielobrien77386 жыл бұрын
CT-5736 that’s pretty scary. Usually if that happens, it would make sense to hire a few professionals. We had to do that 5 years ago.
