Marty, as busy and stressed as you have been, you look great. You are the Kayak king in my book, and I have been impressed at how you went from two completely unreliable and breaking boat engines to finding a way to replace them "after" you started your great loop trip. What you did, was remarkable, but also a swift kick in the butt, that perhaps continues to take a toll and should pass as you gain more confidence in your boats systems. The adventure you are on, can only be experienced by boat, and you are blessed with a boat that is capable of making the trip, and big enough to allow for your dogs as well. Most of us should be so lucky or blessed. I for one would love to see some videos of you hacking around a dock or mangroves in a Kayak fishing for dinner. Things that make you happy, seem to make many of us happy, and we all want you to have an amazing trip. You will figure it out, and lastly, I appreciate more than you know, taking us along with you, on this amazing journey. Take care Marty... I look forward to your next video... Joe

A sea lion jumped in my kayak tied to the stern last night at midnight, and sank it. Luckily it was tied to the stern, so I got it sorted. 😄

Hi Marty, Glad you are still hanging in there - a trip like that has got to wear on you. Obviously it's not just smooth sailing the whole time. Wish I was on the east coast to do a meet up. You are courageous that's for sure! Thanks for the nice update video and I look forward to your next video update. Cheers!

You sound stressed!!!! it is a shame you do not have a capable crew to help out on board. I would think a boat of that size that you guys should have crew onboard to help out if things go a rye. I do know I would not attempt it myself so my hat is off to you and Mike for doing this. I just hope that it is not to stressful for you to where you are not enjoying such a trip. Thanks for the video and stay safe Marty! Cheers!!

I have a very similar boat, 36 uniflite flybridge, and find rolls quite a bit at anchor. To help with that, I put a 20' aluminum pole with two fasteners across the forward cleats with these cones called rocker stoppers at each end and 15lb weights at the bottom. Makes a big difference.

ANCHORING, We lived on the hook for 10 years while cruising in our 41' sloop and I can say this, learning to anchor is paramount to success. You see getting a good nights sleep and staying safe is what cruising is all about. There are volumes written and arguments ad nauseam but in the end it's what works for you. Danforth anchors are great until the a wind or tide change, then you need two, one for each direction. Omni directional is the choice of most cruisers. Setting the hook is another piece of the puzzle. I won't get into what other folks do but dropping the anchor till its at the bottom then idle in reverse till the proper amount of scope is deployed, then cleat off and continue to back down increasing the rpm's till you are satisfied the anchor has dug in. I am not going to get into different bottoms. I can say always look for cover and a body of water that will not present a chop or fetch that will pull out a well set anchor. Marty you have it in you now go out and do it.

I live in PA and I LOVE watching your videos. I would like to make one suggestion for your little tow along. Only put Non Ethanol fuel in it. Just a thought. I only put that in my 2 Stroke and it has been very good to me. Wishing you the best of luck on your journey. The challenges you face are an awesome lesson to people that think or would like to own a boat some day. Unless, you are handy or rich! Be prepared to pay and pay for the expenses that come with owning a boat. And yes I owned a 34 Silverton Flybridge Convertible for several years. Her name was Options.

I honestly think you need to set a no travel day in the week, once a week to just anchor up and kayak. So what if you hit new york september whatever or october whatever. So what if you get there november... what matters is that you will enjoy the trip, no matter the issues. As you know i am on my own 6000 mile trip right now. I gots the issues. I got the setbacks. I got headaches. Pain in the ass kind. No matter what, with me moving daily and juggling all that, i force myself to also enjoy what I ultimately came here to do. I think you need to start doing more of that Marty.... enjoy what you ultimately came there to do.

You and you alone control whether you make the best of it and remain happy and optimistic or... you worry yourself into a Medical Condition. It's time to work on some thicker skin. I want to see you succeed as I have followed you for many many years... it's up to you dude. How Chill was your life before this Adventure? Here's something I learned when I was like you in my 20's... "Life is 10% what you "Make it" and 90% how you "Take it". Deal with the challenges but don't forget to ENJOY LIFE!!!
