Mr. Drop Bear was hilarious, plus all his mates from the night before! 🤣 I was waiting for you to keel over as you were getting your backpack on at the start of Day 2 😂 it looked bigger and heavier than you were! Thankfully, with all the water collecting, and filtering, and drinking, then collecting, and filtering and all the food cooking and eating 🤭 the weight would slowly become lighter as you traversed the trail. Another beautifully edited video as usual Hayley 🙌 and that time lapse of the starry night sky and the clouds floating by, was just magical, great footage! I would've stayed up all night just watching that alone. Can't wait for Part 2 😉

Haha I was so happy when the got the Koala on camera considering I talked about them that morning 🤣 I definitely made a decision after that trip that 6 days of food is the max I’ll ever take not 8!! I think I could almost fit into my own pack, but yes always a nice thought knowing that you are eating away at the weight! 🥪 Always have a soft spot for the stars! I would of liked to of recorded more of the stars if battery wasn’t an issue! Thank you so much for your comments 🙏😊

amazing footage! i want to try that as my first multi-day hike. what time of year is best to do it do you think & do you have any tips i need to know? 😊
@settohike17 күн бұрын
Thank you! Its a great one for a first multiday hike as the days are super varied and not too long. I did this hike during early November which was great, the tail ends either side of summer would be my pick as you could hopefully still have some warm weather for swimming but not too hot. I think the main thing to know would be looking up the tide times before you leave. :)

Hi Hayley, throughout the walk, how easy is it to identify the track markers to show you where to go?
@settohike2 жыл бұрын
It was actually incredibly easy! I was a little worried at the start considering I was going to be by myself, but for the entire trip I didnt lose the track or wonder where the track markers are. (I had the offficial map, a compass, and my position on my phone in case i needed it but didnt :)

Im dying to GOW, used to camp at Blanket Bay and do day walks from there. It looks different now. Question: whats your verdict on the water filter? (apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere)
@settohike2 жыл бұрын
It is definitely one to tick off the list! I was quite pleased with the variety of each day. Actually i'm still deciding whether I should try another brand or not. It was working great and I would back flush it after every litre I filtered. Then I took it for another longer hike and the first night it wouldn't work at all and took about 2 more nights before I could get some flow back (I thought maybe it didnt like sitting in the cupboard between hikes) I had been backflushing it with my other water bottle attached so when I got home I got out the syringe that came with it to back flush. After many goes its back to normal again. So i've kind of got mixed feelings at the moment as I thought I had been doing a great job at back flushing it constantly. haha I think ill give it one more run this year and go from there :)

Hey how did you treat your water on the trip?
@settohike Жыл бұрын
I had a cnoc bladder that I would fill with water that connects to my Sawyer Squeeze and filters into a plastic water bottle. On shorter trips though I usually just use water purification tablets like Aquatabs. :)

How heavy was your pack at the start? Also what month was this? Looks warm.
@settohike3 жыл бұрын
These are just rough estimates but my base weight would have been around 8.2kg if you don't include camera gear. Once I put the camera gear in my base weight became about 11kg. I had about 5.2kg of food to begin with then I would normally carry 2-3L of water. So all up on day 1 would of been around 19kg :O and yeah I did this hike early november (I am a summer lover so I loved this time of year!)
