I'm a realist too. There are good nonmutants that accept us and some that will as soon as they see the good. Neither side is superior and your actions are increasing mutant phobia and mutant hatred and increase the number of nonmutants attacking, torturing, and being cruel to mutants. There are better ways to fight for and protect the rights of mutants.

@@OfficerHotpants I think that's why Magneto attempted to make Genosha a safe haven for mutants, so that they aren't influenced by humanity's violent and even oppressive institutions. he said so himself: "some mutants refuse to fight alongside their brothers and sisters", and that the only way to lead the evolution of the human race is through unity. if unity is through Genoshian nationality, however, then so be ot.

Magneto: Are you a God-fearing man, Senator? That is such a strange phrase. I've always thought of God as a teacher; a bringer of light, wisdom, and understanding. You see, I think what you really fear is me. Me and my kind. The Brotherhood of Mutants. Oh, it's not so surprising really. Mankind has always feared what it doesn't understand. Well, don't fear God, Senator, and certainly don't fear me. Not any more. Senator Kelly: What are you going to do to me? Magneto: Let's just say God works too slow.

I'm pretty sure that he was originally a villain, of the classic ranty type back in the 60s. Then, he got fleshed out and developed, primarily by Chris Claremont, who turned him into the fascinating character he is today. As he put it in 'Magneto: Not a Hero' after having flattened his resurrected clone, Joseph... "The thing NONE of you will ever understand is that there are no sides. There are no heroes or villains. +mwall444 There's a really epic page out of Uncanny X-Men heavily inspired by "The Meeting" where Professor X (Martin Luther King) and Magneto (Malcolm X) casually discuss their motives. Xavier simply wanted mutants to be respected, while Magneto explained he sought out dignity for all mutants. The both consider some form of compromise, but surrender to the fact that they represent opposing extremes and hope the future generations can accomplish what they can. Deep stuff.

Magneto reminds me of the portrayal of General Zod in the most recent superman movie. Not really evil but willing to go to whatever length to protect his people. Forged by atrocity and hardship he is a realist who sees people for the hateful, easily swayed, and destructive beings we are. Maybe one or 2 humans are okay in his eyes but as a whole he knows we will always fear what we cannot control or understand and so he believes mutants being hated/feared is inevitable. He also has some sith mentalities in that he believes those with power should use it and be free in who they are not chained down by what he sees as a weaker race.

I think Magneto has severe PTSD. He is so terrified of his people being wiped out that he will do anything to stop it. I don't like where they try to make Magneto more evil by having him say that mutants are superior-that would make him more like the Nazis. He's an effective villain/anti-hero whenever he does what he does purely in defense.

Adam Roth Oh no doubt. He’s not really a villain. He’s one of the most psychologically complex characters in Marvel and some series sadly don’t quite get his portrayal right. I don’t really like Wolverine and the X-Men version... it focused too much on the mutant superiority angle and made him seem like a Nazi himself... a cruel dictator disguising the truth about his “mutant paradise” and locking away those who oppose his rule... he wouldn’t treat them that way. He has those moments where he does bad things, but there’s so much more to him and there should be a balance. The 90s series version is great because he truly cares about his people, and about Charles and really respects him despite their opposing views. He also actually wants to be a better father. I also love in Evolution how he would have eventually joined the X-Men in the future.

A tragic villain. Misguided in his attempts to prevent the wrongs committed against the people of his youth from repeating, only to adopt an ideological model far too similar to his oppressors. Some scars never fade, especially those in the mind. Thus, the cycle of abuse begins on a terrible scale.

X Men Evolution imo is the best incarnation of the X Men outside the comics. Every single character, hero and villain alike, got a chance to shine. The writting, animation, and action was perfect. Characters like Avalanche, Toad, Storm, and Wanda got some nice character development, while Jean, Scott (personnal favourite btw), Kitty, Logan, and Kurt were so badass and awesome. God, i hate how it got replaced for that crappy wolverine and the x men show...

that's interesting I didn't know that was actually a catch phrase for Magneto. but it does make sense. after all, it's already been pointed out how Magneto was inspired by Malcolm X in many ways. his most famous quote was: "by any means necessary." the line has also been used in Magneto's dialog before, such as in the film series. the two lines are similar, or at least have a similar intention. to prevent suffering at any cost, no matter what.
