How and who will "mint" bitcoins? How will the total Bitcoin worldwide be determined? Will the "minting" be password controlled"? On what currency should the Bitcoin be pegged? You can mint bitcoin if you want to, it requires a bitcoin miner. The total number of bitcoin is already determined, 21 million. It's in the code, the only way to change the code is if the vast majority of bitcoin miners agree to change the code which is very unlikely because that would be like you agreeing to have less of a paycheck. Probably bitcoin should not be pegged to any currency, it is simply interoperable with them. Anything you suggest to peg to bitcoin would likely be a detriment to bitcoin. Bitcoin is a pure asset class. There are not more than one blockchains required, you simply utilize the bitcoin blockchain with the validators which are the miners. Your bitcoin is code and its cryptography, it's very secure there are two main accesses, public keys and private keys, the private keys enable you to control your own bitcoin. If you store your bitcoin on an exchange they are controlling the private keys, in essence they own and control it. You'll need to study more on this topic. The power is certainly sustainable, it's more the media railing against it because they are told to by the money printers and given instructions to that. Pornography on the internet uses more energy than bitcoin but I don't hear anyone in the news decrying how much energy porn uses.

@@Speciation Nope that is a huge problem because if another virus crisis happens basically with BTC millions of companies will collapse without the benefits given by the government even if that means printing money and increasing the debt, if it wasn’t for the current broken monetary system the covid years will have been much worse and maybe a vaccine couldn’t have been made so quickly without the ability of printing more money out of the thin air and increase the investments in the research field when it was needed. This is the main reason the gold standard was terminated as a mean of exchange because it could not tackle those urgent events (but also increased common investments requirements) because you couldn’t invest more than you had you were basically stuck, BTC has the same problem because of the fixed supply. I think there is no way you can make our society work with a fixed monetary supply policy.

Insightful, though I do not possess enough knowledge of economics and it to fully understand whether or not this new financial system supported by Bitcoin is the way to go. Moreover, and I know this is merely an emotional argument, I fear that Bitcoin is also a chosen way for criminals, due to its anonimity probably. It makes it less trustworthy to the common man, but as said, I know this is merely emotional and not factbased at all. I like to see where this is going too and am not too afraid what might happen. This docu helped me to be less afraid. If all goes to heck and it all went sour in a decade or two, maybe I will look back at this and consider myself naive and ignorant. Having the most miners doesn't give you control of the Bitcoin network. The system is designed in such a way that the incentive structure benefits everyone that uses it. If miners were able to control the network to benefit only themselves then the entire network instantly loses its entire value and purpose. Educate yourself about decentralization--something XRP does not and will never have.
