The Great Silence is a story about the search for extraterrestrials, animal intelligence, and the humanistic need for communication. Written by author Ted Chiang, who's other notable works include "What's Expected of Us", details how we search far and wide for things that are sometimes right in front of us.

I'm really glad it was able to move you in such a manner. It's such a great story, and part of the reason I started this channel was to create a visualization of it so others could enjoy it as well.

@@lingoofthelegendary I am still processes the reading myself, but i could not help but grow sympathetic for the parrot species as they basically provided an image of the Great Silence (death of a species) and then goes on to paint a complete picture of it occurring to them in the text. Again I may be misinterpreting and overdramatic, but I loved the harsh truth and the (although tragic) acceptance of parrots describing their movement into joining the graveyard of silence as well.

@@pixiestxNyomouf I didn't believe you are being overdramatic at all. It's a really moving story, and you're spot on.
