The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad Motorcar Excursion: Part 2-Bryson City to the NOC

In part 2 we depart Bryson City and go to The Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC) for our lunch stop. While there, we met the GSMR Nantahala Gorge Excursion on its way back to Bryson City. It stopped at the NOC for a one hour layover.

What is the sole purpose of car #6118? Is that a large fuel tank hanging from the center of the, what looks to be a, caboose? It would like great if it were in a caboose theme.

#6118 is a Generator Car. The GSMR has 2 of these cars and they were build from former cabooses. The Generator Cars provide power to the passenger cars.
