I know I'm somewhat late, but a great big thank you for some of the very best filming I've seen. It is absolutely amazing ! Cheers.

11:16 It sounds like it's breathing kind of like a person does after running a marathon. To me it almost sounds...alive...

Incredible footage. What line was this on eg. The East Hills & Campbeltown or The Liverpool or The one towards Kiama? Not a local to those parts anymore but I was definitely familiar with the railway system during my time in Sydney (hence the lack of proper railway line names).

Nosecomb 24 we “raced” down the Parramatta line until somewhere near Clyde, and then back into Central pulled by the diesels on the back. It was great.

Rich Ferraro NSW - Oh how I wish I was there! The most steam train action nearby for me is the odd run to Marulan from Goulburn on 3016, nothing quite like this. Quite a run for trains of that age (although assisted).

Why are there diesels behind the locomotives? Because I know that if the diesel was making it go faster than it's top speed, it would have imploded. Just asking.

They’re there to haul the trains back to the beginning once the race has finished. They don’t do anything in the race itself.

Great video. 3016 looks marvellous. But I have to say I think the bloke on the whistle got just a little carried away. And what's with the obsession of leaving the firebox door open all the time? When I was firing steam locos leaving the door open was considered a cardinal sin...the extra cold air isn't good for the firebox
